411's MMA Rankings 09.20.07: Heavyweight Division
Posted by Dustin James on 09.20.2007

Welcome to the NEW Official 411mania MMA rankings. Yes, it's new already and I've only had one column! The reason for this is simple; since MMA fighters typically fight every 3-6 months, it wouldn't make much sense to do weekly rankings since a lot would remain unchanged. You will see below just how much remains unchanged in the Heavyweight rankings alone. Weekly rankings on MMA fighters means I'm digging deep for stuff to report on them, and MMA news isn't as heavy as you'd think sometimes.

So the new format, you ask? Basically I'm going to do each weight class weekly now. For instance, this week the Heavyweights will be ranked. Next week, it'll be the Light Heavyweights, then the Middleweights, then I'll combine the Welterweights & Lightweights together, therefore I'll get each group ranked at least once a month. Also, I'm including the other 411 staffers now! It makes it a lot easier and takes some heat off of me when it's a group vote instead of one man's opinion. Since it is the official 411 MMA rankings, the only way to make it official would be to include the other staffers.

Another new thing is there will be videos of featured fights for some of the ranked competitors. The UFC has been recently cracking down on embedded videos of their fights, making it harder to include everybody. But if I can find a fight for a ranked competitor, you can bet I will include it. You can also email me if you find a good video of a ranked fighter that I didn't include. Well, let's cut to the chase and get on with the good stuff.
