MMA’s Full 38’ 02.27.08: Renzo Gracie Seminar Review & UFC 82 Trivia

Some MMA fans do not love the small details about MMA. Thats too bad as this week we review a Renzo Gracie Seminar and 411mania found another MMA writer who loves the small details - he has a trivia test on UFC 82.
Renzo Gracie Chokes Students During Florida Seminar
Renzo Gracie was at the new Weston Florida academy this past Saturday for the grand opening ceremony. The seminar began with the customary stretches. In the picture above, you can see UFC veteran Moti Horenstein stretching out and talking with Renzo. It turns out Moti, the original Jewish ultimate fighter did not stretch out enough as was evident when he later pulled a muscle ending his ability to participate. The former fighter with his own school in Florida, was very nice and interesting to finally meet.
After a little bit of warm ups, Stan Beck, the Renzo student who opened this great new Weston Florida location and Renzo showed a few basic moves and the students then practiced on eat other. The Gi related chokes were some of the highlights of the day as Stan was forced to tap in what appeared to be genuinely tight holds. Later on though Stan would show off his expertise when he was rolling around with one of his students.
A few chokes later in pairs of two, the over 40 or so students then watched Renzo create a little soreness in his star Student Stan's arm. Above notice his great technique while still making eye contact with the crowd to make sure they are getting his every word.
About two and a half hours later it was time for the seminar to end and the grand opening celebration to begin. Stan had arranged for several enjoyable activities from a Jousting station for the children to a pull up contest for the adults. He also worked together with a new martial arts gear and fashion store from Miami named SoBe Knockouts. Together they passed out free shirts and water bottles. You can visit the new MMA and vacation destination on South Beach between Collins avenue and Washington, on 9th street.
Make sure to visit Stan Beck's Renzo school where they offer Gi class for adults to children's classes for discipline and even women's self-defense classes.

And for those of you wondering what is MMA's Full 38' It means: an octagon is 30 ft across with 4 feet extra on each side, for cornermen, doctors and camera crew. To know MMA, sometimes one needs to make sure they cover some of the lesser know aspects of it, and 38' represents a number a lot of hardcore fans would not recognize. But be warned, do not try to set up an arena without knowing how big the octagon really is, or there will be problems.
