Hermes Franca, former title contender and UFC vet, has signed with a new management team and has his eyes on a fight this summer. Here, MMA's Full 38' lets you know which team team he has joined, where he was last seen and when he will fight next.
Last week was a rebirth for Hermes Franca, a fighter who has many fans in Florida and all around the world. In the same city that almost four years ago Hermes beat Manny Reyes Jr. in the infamous bout where he only would earn $1 from the promoter but had fans poured in two thousand dollars in donations, he returned to watch an event with an energized team behind him.
If two thousand in donations showed the love Franca's fans have for him then, it was only more obvious this past weekend when he returned to Fort Lauderdale at the Warrior's Collide 4 event with his family and friends. The fans all ran up to the title contender asking for autographs and pictures. After taking time to greet each and every fan, he was escorted by the event promoters into the VIP area along with his manager Reed Wallace, the 2008 Judo Olympian Adler Volmar and Sid Needelman of the retailer Sobe Knockouts, all depicted above.
Reed Wallace and Hermes Franca were happy to announce at the event to those industry insiders that Hermes had just signed with White Chocolate Management, the same team that has both Cheick Kongo and Dorian Price in town this week.
Hermes, who sports a 18-6 professional record was last seen in the UFC where the champion Sean Sherk was unable to knockout or submit the Brazilian fighter who has trained with, and been a valued member of, everyone from the American Top Team to the Armory. With his latest move to the White Chocolate Management Team, Franca plans to shortly announce a new relationship with a team that will keep him in his best shape for when he returns shortly to active competition. Hermes mentioned this past weekend at the Warrior's Collide event that he has offers to headline an upcoming event. He also has several potential sponsors his management team are currently reviewing.
In the short term, Hermes is expected to appear at an event in Fort Lauderdale on April 18th and again will be happy to meet any fan who wishes to shake his hand and talk mixed martial arts. He plans to fight this summer. And you may have also heard that he recently met the former President Clinton and was very impressed with our former leader.
The name of his management team may sound familiar as they have a 10 million dollar lawsuit against the UFC champion, Rampage Jackson.
