Quinton 'Rampage" Jackson is set to headline the next UFC event, defend his light heavyweight belt and his status as the #1 light heavyweight in the world against Forrest Griffin. Come in and take a closer look to the career of the PRIDE veteran and the most colorful man in MMA industry.
Quinton "Rampage" Jackson is one of the most colorful personalities in the entire MMA industry. During his entrance, he goes out with a chain on his neck, howling like a wolf. Quinton is always funny, he likes to give interviews. But when it comes to fighting, Jackson is a very talented fighter. He is currently the undisputed UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and the #1 Light Heavyweight in the world. Quinton got very popular in Japan for his aggressive, exciting style and his huge slams. Despite the fact, that he's a fighter, Jackson is a born again Christian and he has four children.
Early Life
Jackson was born on 1978 June 20 in Memphis, Tennessee. His family was poor, his friends were on drugs and Quinton had to learn to defend himself with his punches. That is why he became such an excellent striker that he is now. Also, he was a big pro-wrestling fan as a child. He had an amateur wrestling career in junior college before discovering mixed martial arts. Quinton was really excited about it, because he, in his own words, got to beat people up and earn money for it. "Rampage" was an unknown fighter before he was brought in to PRIDE. He lost in his debut to Sakuraba, but Quinton demonstrated his exciting style and that helped him to sign a contract with PRIDE and later become the best light heavyweight in the world.
Eastman proved that he was a better wrestler and a striker. Marvin dominated Jackson, rocked him a few times, mounted him, but Jackson did not give up, he continued fighting and survived both rounds. After the match the commentators praised Quinton, saying that "the kid has a lot of heart" and "remember the name – Quinton "Rampage" Jackson".
Win, Ron Rumpf, TKO (Punches from Mount), round 1, 1:18 CFA 2 - Continental Freefighting Alliance 2
Win, Warren Owsley, Submission (Armbar), round 1, 6:04 Dangerzone - Night of the Beast
Quinton was not successful in his PRIDE debut, but he made a good impression escaping many submission attempts and slamming Sakuraba multiple times. He signed a contract with PRIDE soon after this fight.

Win, Kevin Randleman, TKO (punches), round 1, 6:58 PRIDE 25 - Body Blow
With this victory, Quinton became the #1 contender for Wanderlei's PRIDE Middleweight title. He did not get a short at it though, because PRIDE booked a Middleweight Grand Prix and one of the fighters there was Wanderlei Silva.
Win, Mikhail Illoukhine, Submission (strikes), round 1, 6:26 PRIDE 26 – Bad to the Bone
Win, Murilo Bustamante, Decision (split), round 3, 5:00 PRIDE Total Elimination 2003

Win, Chuck Liddell, TKO (strikes), round 2, 3:10 PRIDE Final Conflict 2003
PRIDE Middleweight Grand Prix semi finals. Jackson controlled the fight, getting the better of the punch exchanges. In the second round Quinton slammed Liddell and started pounding at Chuck's head and body until The Iceman's corner threw in the towel.
Loss, Wanderlei Silva, TKO (strikes), round 1, 6:28 PRIDE Final Conflict 2003
PRIDE Middleweight Grand Prix finals. "Rampage" took control of the fight early by taking down Silva and doing damage on the ground. The referee stood both fighters up and from that moment it was all Silva, who connected with a lot of solid knees to the head of Jackson. Quinton would not go down until the referee stopped the fight.
Win, Ikuhisa Minowa, TKO (punches), round 2, 1:05 PRIDE Shockwave 2003
Win, Ricardo Arona, KO (slam), round 1, 7:32 PRIDE Critical Countdown 2004
#1 contender's match. Ricardo Arona locked in a triangle choke from his guard, but Jackson powerbombed Ricardo and knocked him out. The damage to Arona could've actually been not from a slam, but from an accidental headbutt. The referees awarded Jackson the victory though.
Loss, Wanderlei Silva, KO, round 2, 3:26 PRIDE 28 - High Octane
This fight was very similar to their first meeting. Quinton took down Wanderlei and controlled him on the ground, but in the 2nd round, Silva was once again able to clinch and land multiple knees to the head of Jackson to knock him out.
Win, Murilo Rua, Decision (split), round 3, 5:00 PRIDE 29 - Fists Of Fire
This was a very close fight. Quinton looked like a shadow of himself and did not do much in the fight, but he still managed to win the bout. The commentators Mauro Ranallo and Bas Rutten disagreed with the judges.
Loss, Mauricio Rua, KO (Strikes), round 1, 4:47 PRIDE Total Elimination 2005
Quinton could not handle the quick and aggressive style of Rua. Shogun broke Quinton's rib early in the fight and then finished him with soccer kicks.
Win, Hirotaka Yokoi, TKO (Punches and Stomps), round 1, 4:05 PRIDE 30 – Fully Loaded
Win, Dong Sik Yoon, Decision (unanimous), round 3, 5:00 PRIDE 31 - Dreamers
Win, Matt Lindland, Decision (split), round 3, 5:00 WFA: King of the Streets
Jackson signed a multiple fight deal with WFA. His first opponent was a top middleweight Matt Lindland. In a very close and exciting match, Quinton was able to use his strength to control the fight on the ground and get the decision victory. UFC bought WFA and after this fight, Jackson signed with the UFC.
Win, Marvin Eastman, KO (punches), round 2, 3:49 UFC 67 – All or Nothing
Quinton made his UFC debut and avenged an early career loss. The fight was slow, Quinton wasn't aggressive in the first round and in the second he landed some uppercuts in the clinch to knock down Eastman and after a few more shots, Marvin was finished. After the fight, Jackson said that he was very nervous and apologized for not a great performance.
Win, Chuck Liddell, TKO (punches), round 1, 1:53 UFC 71 - Liddell vs. Jackson
The biggest win of Quinton's MMA career. Jackson had defeated Liddell in PRIDE, but he still was underdog. "Rampage" knocked out Chuck and captured the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship.
Win, Dan Henderson, Decision (unanimous), round 5, 5:00 UFC 75 - Champion vs. Champion
With this victory, Quinton retained his UFC title and captured the PRIDE Middleweight Championship. The fight was really technical. Jackson tried to do what no one has done and that is to knock out Henderson, but he couldn't do it and instead, he won the decision.
The Future
Quinton's next title defense is at UFC 85, against Forrest Griffin. If he wins this fight, he'll prove that he can be a dominant champion. Jackson is already the #1 Light Heavyweight fighter, but if he continues to win, maybe he'll become the #1 Pound-for-Pound fighter. UFC's Light Heavyweight division is full of high level talent and all of them want a shot at "Rampage", including the man, who beat Jackson twice – Wanderlei Silva. So you can be sure, that Quinton wants to avenge the losses and become the best UFC fighter ever.
you know, i've seen the powerbomb eight bazillion times and i have never seen so much as a hint of a headbutt...i guess i'll have to look again.

I looked at it again..I really don't see the headbutt. They might've made some contact, barely.

There was a headbutt. After the match there is blood floating from Quinton's forehead. The commentators also said that it was probably a headbutt. Watch the DVD not a gif or low quality video.
