Find out why…
According to MMAJunkie.com, the UFC has signed 17-5-1 Mike Pyle to a contract, and have also made sure that he will be ready to step into the cage for Saturday's show, if need be. Pyle was hired as an "insurance policy" for Brazilian resident Chris Wilson. Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer has stated that the commission is still waiting on additional medical information from Wilson. Kizer also insisted that there was no failed drug test or reason to believe Wilson would be unable to compete at this time. While the UFC hasn't commented, keep in mind that the Matt Hughes vs. Matt Serra and Yoshiyuki Yoshida vs. Brandon Wolff bouts are also at 170lbs.
