WEC 43 Set For September 2nd In Ohio, Varner Will Not Be Stripped Of The Title
Posted by Larry Csonka on 06.30.2009

According to MMAJunkie.com, WEC 43 is set for September 2nd in Youngstown, Ohio. The event will be held in the 6,000-seat Covelli Centre in Youngstown. Also, WEC General Manager Reed Harris has stated that reports of Jamie Varner being stripped of the WEC Lightweight Title are false. Donald Cerrone (10-1) and Benson Henderson (9-1) will instead fight for an interim lightweight belt. Harris made the following comments…

"Jamie is not stripped of the title. We're all hoping Jamie can come back later this year and defend his title against whoever wins the interim title. We just couldn't put the division on hold. We had to move it forward .
