Another state joins the club…
As of today, the state of Indiana has become the 39th state to regulate MMA. The passing of Act 160 calls for the Indiana Athletic Commission to regulate both MMA and kickboxing under the label of "unarmed combat sports". The state had previously held unsanctioned MMA events, but organizations such as the UFC and Strikeforce were shut out of the potentially lucrative market due to the lack of a regulating body. The 19,000-seat Conseco Fieldhouse is a possible venue for the UFC to run when they make their debut there.
