Cane calls "Ace" out...
Rising light heavyweight prospect Luiz "Banha" Cane currently has no fight scheduled for any upcoming UFC events, and now he's making it clear exactly who he wants to face when UFC matchmaker Joe Silva calls him.
"I am here to fight whoever the UFC puts in front of me. However, I would like that my next opponent be someone with a name and could move me closer to a shot at the belt. I work for the UFC, and I will fight whoever they say. I thought they gave me an excellent fight in Cantwell. But a fight that would fit perfectly would be against Rich Franklin. Without a doubt, this would be a fight that I would love to fight, and I am sure the fans would like to see it too."
Franklin is fresh off his victory over Wanderlei Silva at UFC 99, but it may take a little longer than usual to schedule his next fight. The Silva bout was the last fight on Franklin's contract, and he is now in the midst of negotiations with the UFC for a new deal. It's believed that Franklin will re-sign with the company.
Cane got his lone career loss in his UFC debut, due to an illegal knee delivered in his bout with James Irvin. Since then he is 3-0 with wins over Jason Lambert, Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou, and Steve Cantwell.
i think he needs to beat a bigger name before he gets franklin, give him like jardine or vera or somone like that

After beating Silva, that's a step down for Franklin. Agree with Joe, give Cane Jardine or Vera.

Looks like Cane is begging for a beating.

i do agree with both of you. but think if he wants to step in there with Rich, an if he were to loose that could put franklin one fight away from a title shot...
