Cro Cop vs. Junior Dos Santos Likely For UFC 103

Cro Cop set to return to the Octagon!
Junior Dos Santos (8-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC), after being pulled from his UFC 102 bout against Justin McCully, is likely to face Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic (25-6-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) at UFC 103. It is not known yet if the fight will be the show's main event. Filipovic. Filipovic and UFC have been marked in controversy after Cro Cop gave Dana White a verbal agreement for multiple UFC fights but then seemingly backed out to jump to DREAM. White responded by blasting Cro Cop in the media. Obviously now Cro Cop has reached a new deal with UFC. He has won three of his last four fights. Santos won his last fight in dominating fashion over Stefan Struve at UFC 95 in February.
UFC 103 is scheduled for September 19th at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX.
I'm sure he'll be fed to Brock on his way out the door.

Well, they're not feeding him to Carwin or Velasquez, but still should be a tough fight for Cro Cop.

When I first heard this news I gotta admit that my pants got tighter. While i wanted to see the slaughter that likely would've been the Dos Santos v McCully affair, I am glad that he has been given the chance here to face some legitimate competition. This is a win-win situation as it will undoubtedly be an exciting fight and both guys have a lot to gain from it. Cro Cop can prove that he's able to hang with the younger faster fighters of today and that he's ready to step back up to top competition, while Dos Santos has the chance to get a win over a top 15 heavyweight.
This fight is destined for a nasty KO.

This card could use a really compelling main event with this fight as a good back-up. Unfortunately I'm not sure there are a lot of options in September for a really significant main event. You could book Hughes or Franklin, but against who?

Might want to also mention the Dos Santos won his last two fights in dominating fashion (sent Werdum strait out of title contention and the UFC)

I'm on the Junior bandwagon but I want to see Cro Cop get back on top too! Aaaah!

This should be Dos Santo's true break-out fight, since he's essentially fallen off the radar since the Werdum fight.

Dana White fans are such tools. You didn't see White blast Cro Cop? Really? Are you really an MMA fan?

It only took a matter of months for Dana to switch from not being able to trust someone, to considering placing him on an upcoming event. And what is going to happen, if this fight does go ahead, when Mirko decides that he wants to go and fight in DREAM or something?
This makes Dana look stupid if the fight does go ahead, and makes Mirko look like one of the smartest fighters, business wise, out there - depending on the pay day.
