Rickson Gracie Claims He Could Submit Brock Quicker Than Fedor
Posted by Larry Csonka on 07.14.2009

Fifty year old eighth degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Rickson Gracie, the submission master that claims to have a record of 400-0, recently discussed both Brock Lesnar and Fedor Emelianenko. Specifically tapping them out…

"[Brock Lesnar] is impressive as an athlete, but he has holes in his game like anybody else. Technically, he is not as good as Fedor. It would take me longer to submit Fedor than it would him. I am not worried about his abilities. Whether he punches at me on the ground or standing, it is only a matter of time. In some ways, it is easier if he tries to punch at me standing. All the simpler to take him down. It ends in an armbar or a strangle regardless."

It's so easy for guys like this to talk because they know the fight will never happen.

"Hélio Gracie disputed Rickson's claim to have had over 400 fights. According to Hélio, Rickson has only competed in fights that are commonly known and reported: the two against Rei Zulu and those that took place in Japan. Hélio alleged that Rickson uses practice and amateur bouts to obtain a number over 400, and that if he counted his fights like Rickson does, he would have in excess of one million."

Those crazy Gracies. I wouldn't call them that to their faces though.

Problem is...no one can sub Brock to an armbar or wrap their arms around his...well, I'd say neck but he doesn't have one. I don't think it's physically possible, so good luck with that Gramps.

Listen Rickson if Brock hit you ypu would be dead.........dead!

No no not 400-0 400-1 he's been beaten by in the 1993 U.S. Sambo Championships by one of the few non Russians to hold the rank of Master Of Sport in Sambo. Of course Rickson disputes this saying "he was misinformed of the rules. Typical Gracie fashion he was and still is one hell of an awesome fighter but the over egostical statements like that one bring him down. He is right on somethings but the self congratulator statements make it seem assholish.

This old bastard couldn't beat Mir. Mir couldn't do a thing with Brock on top of him, so I don't see some old skinny bastard doing anything to Brock. What a fucking joke.

Rickson's a douche and always has been.

I actually came in to post the same thing dem0cratic just did. For those who don't know Helio was Rickson's father, patriarch of the Gracie clan and founder of BJJ. Even he said, before he died, that Rickson's claim of 400 wins is ridiculous as it counts sparring and practice bouts. His real professional record is only 11-0. He was good, but not as good as he likes to claim.

Besides which he's 50 years old now and his last sanctioned fight was 9 years ago. Brock or Fedor, either one, would kill him in a real bout.

@Ramsey

You must be one of this wrestling marks that is now an MMA bandwagon jumper !

This is the 5th thread i have seen you in gobbling up Brock's nuts in your mouth. Now you in here say Brocks arms are 2 big to be submitted in an arm bar hahahaha

They said that about Choi, Sapp etc and there arms are bigger than Brocks !

Regardless of Brocks win over Mir, doesn't;' change the fact he lost to Mir. And a 3rd bout will happen ( and i hate Mir for the record!)

Shane Carwin or Cain Velasquez will be the one to upset Brocks run !

Haha. HBK, Matt, AG etc obviously dont know who they are talking about. Rickson Gracie is crazy good.. movie like good. He would tap them both out pretty easily.

If a fighter has to embellish his record with practice and sparring bouts, I submit that he isn't that great a fighter.
11-1 shows he's decent, but it also alludes to the fact he's happiest when talking about himself rather than actually competing. Gracie he may be, but he comes off sounding like such a joke.

Like they always say there's jiu-jitsu and there's jiu-jitsu when your getting hit in the face.

"In some ways, it is easier if he tries to punch at me standing. All the simpler to take him down. It ends in an armbar or a strangle regardless."

So he's gonna duck under a punch and double-leg him or what? This all sounds dilusional. Brock isn't a UFC 1 fighter or something, Fedor especially.

Jiu Jitsu is only applicable if you can take a guy down to the floor. Old Man river over here won't be taking Brock Lesnar to the floor. You pull guard on Brock Lesnar and he will drop you on your fucking head. I don't like the guy, and can't wait to see him get his ass kicked, but a 50 yr old BJJ practitioner won't be the one doing it. Ideally, a guy who can match up in strength to Lesnar and has good submissions and knock out power will be the one to take out Lesnar. Carwin is the closest thing to that minus the submissions.

Hey, faggot. First off, post under a fucking name. Second, go back about 2 years, you know, BEFORE Brock was in the UFC, and you'll see me posting in the MMA section. And third...um, first fight with Brock, Mir attempted 2 arm bars and Brock swatted him away, and post-fight Mir admitted Brock had no neck so he couldn't choke.

You know, it's possible I'm a FIGHT fan, no matter what kind of ring it happens to be in.

Now pull your bottom lip over your head and swallow, assclown.

Rickson gracie is supoosed to be the best gracie fighters and he retired undefeated as far as I know. I think Rickson could have beaten Lesnar when Lesnar was a straight amateur wrestler. But now that Lesnar are aware what BJJ fighters are capable of and know how to avoid their submissions, Rickson Gracie has no chance whatsoever. That was the reason why Mir was defeated so soundly. I think at the age of 50, he must be kidding himself perhaps? I mean if Royce Gracie couldn't do anything to stop much smaller and lesser wrestler like Matt Hughes. Rickson has absolutely no chance against Brock Lesnar.

i dont even know who this guy is, but im pretty sure that brock could destroy the entire gracie clan by himself ! and i agree with the ramsay comments by the way, so sue me.

This is F***ing Rickson Gracie, talk all the shit you want, yes his record may be a bit inflated but if its even in the ballpark of 400 its incredible, The Gracies are MASTERS, in his prime he fought guys that were BIGGER and stronger than brock, lesnar would get his oversized ass OWNED by such a skilled man, if he ever fights Machida you'll see. as for Fedor, well I dont know if ANYONE can beat fedor in his prime.

LOOK "HICKSON"...A little japanese (pro wrestler) guy by the name of Kazushi Sakuraba came in and destroyed your families legacy...so what makes you think a HUGE Russian or American will ba any different?

Posted By: hahaman (Guest)  on July 16, 2009 at 06:40 PM

fedor only fights old men or people that cant make it in the ufc , well he fort dan henderson n won on a split disition a fighter who the spider dominated and won in 2 rounds so how u call fedor the best is behond me

You cannot dispute that Rickson was the best in his time (as early as the 80's). A lot has changed since and top athletes now would not be bragging if it weren't for meeting standards that the Gracies have set. If you don't believe that the Gracies were the cornerstone of today's MMA,then do some research!!! In my book, he has earned the right to talk smack about anyone and anything in MMA. He is in a league that NEITHER YOU NOR I COULD EVER BE IN WITHIN OUR LIFETIME!. Be respectful of greatness, because it came with the same confidence/arrogance that we admired back when they had the balls and power to prove it. As far as I am concerned, even Bruce Lee can be destroyed by today's athletes, and I am not quite sure I want him or Rickson to admit that obvious fact. Martial arts is about respect, and when you call a master a "retard" etc, you just don't get it, and fortunately, you never will. Get over it people!
