Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers Set For Primetime On CBS

Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers will take place live on free TV on November 7!
Strikeforce announced today in an official press release that Fedor Emelianenko will be taking on Brett Rogers at STRIKEFORCE: FEDOR VS. ROGERS which is set to be broadcast on Saturday, November 7 (9:00PM, live ET/delayed PT) on CBS. CBS was the first to air live MMA fights on network television, the last being the EliteXC event in October 2008 headlined by Kimbo Slice vs. Seth Petruzelli.
According to Kelly Kahl, Senior Executive Vice President, Prime Time, CBS Television, "There's no question this is a sport that is fast becoming a force in popularity and as a business. We're excited to be the platform that will enable millions more to see the athlete regarded as the very best in his sport. The Number One heavyweight on the most-watched network has a very nice ring to it."
Scott Coker, Founder and CEO of Strikeforce says, "It is an honor to have the opportunity to bring the STRIKEFORCE brand to CBS. We are looking forward to bringing MMA back to the network and to having the world's No. 1 heavyweight-Fedor-compete for the first time on live network television against one of America's most promising young, undefeated stars-Brett Rogers."

Whoa. Maybe Strikeforce knew what they were doing after all, there is a high probability that more people will watch this than any UFC event (seeing as PPVs generally will net less viewership). That CBS deal is absolutely huge, I'll be watching this event for sure and I think this could really launch Strikeforce in the mainstream.

Yeah, the Kimbo thing was an embarrasment to MMA, so the UFC fanboys can now look forward to seeing HIM in the UFC HW division because Dana failed to bring in an ACTUAL world class fighter like Fedor who won't lose on CBS, or anywhere else in America.

To all the people laughing and saying what will they do if Fedor loses.
Answer: a) Have a few crying fanboys that will still watch the next events that Fedor fights in b) gain even more people to watch future events which Rogers is on because he is American and will appeal much more to the new fans of MMA.

All you guys want Rogers to knock Fedor out, but if Fedor beats him I beat you guys will be like "just another can on Fedor's record". Fedor could beat Anderson Silva and Brock Lesnar in the same night and you would still have an excuse why he's not good.
I'm one of the biggest Fedor fans and I'm not going to be upset if he loses, it has to happen eventually. It would be great if it happened to a lesser known person so they get a boost from the win, and make them a legit fighter.

You what the most boring thing about the "Fedor sucks, Brock rules" thing is? You're BOUND to lose eventually, no matter who you are. It's just that Fedor's fought 30 times and hasn't really legitimately lost, and Brock's fought five times and already he's tapped out once.
Brock may be the best HW in the world, but he can still lose. Likewise, Fedor may be the best HW in the world, but he can still lose.
Fedor vs. Rogers is just as dangerous as Brock vs. Carwin.

Anyone who calls someone a fedor nuthugger hasn't seen PRIDE or claims they did. I like Fedor, seven years ago and still follow his fights like I do Cro Cop's fights. Can Brett win? maybe? but highly unlikely.

I used to be a HUGE fan of Fedor. All the way up until he turned down a more lucrative contract, tons of endorsements and the chance to fight the best in the world and in the deepest hw division in mma..to sign with STRIKEFORCE!
If he and his handlers truly thought Fedor was the best fighter in the world, they would have signed with the UFC. Name one other professional sport on the planet where a premier athlete chooses to accept less money and the chance to compete with the elite in his/her sport to sign with an inferior league?
I have lost any and all respect for Fedor. He is a coward!
