Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 09.17.2009

Spike TV announced that the telecast for the season opening episode of the tenth season for The Ultimate Fighter drew a 2.9 rating. That's the highest rating the show has ever done, beating the previous TUF high of 2.8.

if this was a Raw show people would be on here saying "EPIC FAIL!!!"

Well for one thing, for SpikeTV and TUF these are huge numbers. TUF was drawing bigger ratings in the earlier years than the most recent ones. But just for example, I think the Tito/Shamrock season was drawing like 1.6-2.0 for like the regular weekly episodes.

So does TUF.

4.1 Million viewers =/= 4.1 rating.

It says it got a 2.9 household rating.

Yes, RAW usually does a lot better than that. But these are still the biggest numbers TUF ever pulled and the show's ratings have been steadily declining for the last several seasons.

Too bad the episode was crappy with the worst fight in TUF history! I bet the rating is down big time next week!

TV ratings are great, but UFC lives or dies on it's PPV buyrates and in that regard, they kick the WWE's ass. They convert more of their viewership into paying customers.
I'm a WWE fan by the way, it's harder for an obviously worked sport to get people to spend money on it, legit sports will always do better in this regard.

Alot of the ratings is based off the Nielson rating system guys they send out packets and pay people to log what they watch and how old everyone is etc.... they take that and look at previous weeks and current new shows... Thats how they know this info you have to show how many tvs, what ages are watching what...

Its because of my boy Kimbo Slice, he will be winning the season.

4.1 Million viewers =/= 4.1 rating.

Posted By: Guest#2028 (Guest) on September 18, 2009 at 12:31 AM

No, it doesn't translate like that.

A 1.3 Rating = 2 million people.
