Quinton Rampage Jackson Done Fighting

“I was very loyal to them but they didn't respect my loyalty…” - Rampage
- Quinton "Rampage" Jackson posted the following blog on on his website, stating that he is done fighting…
The UFC has done a lot for me but I think I have done more for them. The UFC bought WFA to get my contract & they saved my life, so I felt loyal to them. They pushed me into a fight with Chuck Liddel even when I clearly stated I wasn't ready to fight for the belt because the American fans didn't know me but I took the fight and didn't complain & after I won the American fans booed me for the first time which changed the way I saw them & it hurt me deeply.
Then before I can even get out of the cage they announced that I was fighting Dan Henderson without even asking me. After I beat Dan Henderson, I made history in becoming the first undisputed champion in MMA but was never even given the pride belt in the cage & I was never promoted as the undisputed champ. Later Anderson Silva was.
Then they had me coach TUF season 7 and fight Forrest and the fight was very controversial & normally when a fight is that close & controversial there is normally an instant replay. I can name a couple of instances. Instead they offered me the Vanderlei Silva fight which I gladly accepted even though I know it was a very risky fight for me to take because of all the drama that was happening to me at the time. I fought that fight with a jaw injury and then a couple weeks later Dana called me and asked me to fight Rashad. For the first time I said no, I didn't want to fight because it was such short notice & I wouldn't have had a long break between camp. Dana talked me into fighting Rashad anyway but Rashad refused the fight and so I had to fight Jardine as a favor to the UFC instead of getting my belt back (which wasn't even worth it to me financially).
Then I reinjured my jaw in the fight with Vanderlei & Jardine. Frank Mir gets hurt so they wanted to switch my fight from UFC 100 to the fight Frank couldn't make it to but I couldn't fight cause I needed jaw surgury. So they give Machida the fight against Rashad & they told me they want me to coach TUF season 10 against Rashad. That's why I wanted Rashad to win so bad but when Rashad got knocked out I told them I wanted to fight Machida for the belt but Dana told me if I coach TUF against Rashad that I could fight Machida afterwards cause this was a different type of ultimate fighter show they were doing. After I signed the contract Dana then changes his mind & says I have to fight Rashad & even told me what to say in the press & so my fans think I was scared to fight Machida. After all that I still never complained & I did it all.
Then this movie role came about that I have been trying to get for over a year & as soon as I found out I was close to getting it, I called Dana right away & asked to push the Memphis fight back just a month or so. I told him what this movie role meant to me. I told him that I used to bond with my father watching the tv show as a kid when my parents where still married & it represents the memories I had with my father when we lived together. My dad became an alcohalic & addicted to drugs & we grew apart. But after my dad got his life back together, I was so proud of my dad & I told him I would always take care of him in the future & make him proud of me. My dad & I are still very big fans of the show & I am basically doing this for the childhood memories I had spending time in front of the tv with my dad. Dana went on the internet & mocked me because of that & I still did nothing. Dana & I finally talked & we made up & then after that he went back on the internet & said some bullshit & he was talking bad about the movie when information is not even supposed to be released & talking about payments which is not even true could really hurt my future acting career, which could very well last longer than my fighting career. I'm not like Randy Couture. My body has been getting so many different injuries that I wont be able to fight until my forties & neither do I want to fight that long. So I feel like my second career could be in jeopardy.. so I'm done fighting. I've been getting negative reviews from the dumb ass fans that don't pay my bills or put my kids though college. So I'm hanging it up. I'm gonna miss all my loyal fans but hopefully they'll follow me to my new career & I will gain more loyal fans along the way. & all you hater fans out there can kiss my big black hairy ass! & anybody that don't like what I just said can come try to kick my ass!
I still feel the UFC is a great organization and I felt like I was very loyal to them but they didn't respect my loyalty but I wish the UFC the best. I did a lot of things for them. I wish no bad blood between us but I have kids & a family back in Memphis to provide for & thats all that matters to me!
Good for him, and I pity the fool that differs on opinion.

Bravo. I hope more and more fighters get sick of Dana White's BS and walk away until that big mouthed wannabe finally kills his own organization.

He probably knows he won't be getting Oscars off of this. I'm won't lie. I'll watch his movie and I hope he does well with it.

Wow. I hope he sticks to his guns on this one. Would love to see UFC scramble to explain this.
Posted By: dfdf (Guest) on September 22, 2009 at 09:46 PM
Yea man the fans that pay our bills are so stupid. They think they can invest their hard earned money that they make working a 9-5 job to watch us do our think and it gives them right to have an opinion. HA! Those dimwits can kiss both of our black hairy asses!

I'm siding with Rampage on this one.

That is too bad, very entertaining fighter
Posted By: ikeman (Guest) on September 22, 2009 at 08:52 PM
I seriously doubt this lasts. Sounds like some heat is between him and Dana, but I think Quinton will eventually learn he's a far better fighter than an actor.
Posted By: Guest#9359 (Guest) on September 22, 2009 at 09:59 PM
not really surprised that Rampage has daddy issues.
And I don't really care. Rampage is the most overrated fighter outside of Cung Le. He is making the right decision to leave the fight game. He is the same exact fighter he was in 2003. No evolution. No grappling skills, no kicks, no kick defense, doesn't check kicks, nothing.
He can pretend he was promised a title shot all he wants, bottom line is this
1) he was offered to fight Rashad for the title, but turned that down and instead took on Jardine.
2) He was offered to fight Machida and instead wanted to fight Rashad.
He can't beat Machida, he is too slow and one-dimensional to beat Rashad. The Jardine fight showed how slow his hands are compared to people with actual striking skill. He will get wrecked by Shogun, Rashad, Machida, Anderson, etc...
He has made the right choice entering acting becuase his q rating would have taken a serious hit when he tried to enter Hollywood on a losing streak.

Let's see Dana come out with breach of contract, and send Rampage into oblivion. Rampage signed the papers. He's obligated to do it. Tough that he doesn't want to ruin his body. He shouldn't fight if he doesn't want to get hurt. He'll fail at movies, just like he failed at being a fighter.
Posted By: Guest#9660 (Guest) on September 22, 2009 at 08:58 PM
And yet if Dana could've just STFU for once, he could've had Rashad/Rampage in January.
Nice going, DW, keep treating your fighters like dirt and you'll continue to rob the fans of the best fights and the best fighters (Henderson, Fedor, now Rampage).

KNEW IT!
RAMPAGE FEARS EVANS!!!!!!!!!

He'll be back don't worry. Im sure once A-Team flops, makes no money, and those car, house, etc payments come in...he'll tuck his dick in between his legs and come back. Rampage fears SHOGUN
Posted By: Dana White JR (Guest) on September 22, 2009 at 09:09 PM
Whoa! It's nice to hear a viewpoint other than Dana's for once.

WoW, is Rampage off his meds again? I guess at least this time he didn't get involved in a car chase and wreck some cars.
Either he is telling the truth, or those hollywood boys got him going with them lies they whispering in his ear.
He has done more for the UFC? Now that I think about it, yep, he is off his meds and smokin that whacky tobacky.
Posted By: Guest#8297 (Guest) on September 22, 2009 at 09:18 PM
this dude gets one movie role and thinks he can build a career off of that? we'll see u in the cage again in a couple years mr. jackson.
Posted By: Guest#9557 (Guest) on September 22, 2009 at 09:20 PM
fuckin eh rampage. if there not showing the same amount of respect then get out. anybody with half a clue would do the same thing. family comes first. i hope that yer new career is as rewarding as yer mma career

Good luck Rampage. You are a hell of a fighter.

Oh, I this is gonna send Dana off the deep end.
Posted By: Drew (Guest) on September 22, 2009 at 09:28 PM
Wow! Without taking sides or trying to figure out who's at fault more, I have very mixed emotions. On one hand I'm glad he's living his life his way and moving on to new things. On the other he is my favorite fighter and most charismatic, interesting guy in mma. Bye Rampge!
Posted By: gbh1978 (Guest) on September 22, 2009 at 09:29 PM
good luck rampage...the movies are a tough business to make it in..ride your fame ....it beats getting punched in the face everyday.

WOW, you are a bitch, and it's because of dumbass fans like you that he is putting the UFC behind him, and just like he said, you don't like what he said, so go try to kick his ass, fucking idiot
Posted By: nic (Guest) on September 22, 2009 at 10:31 PM
I've said for a while that the fighters - the ones that make the organization ALL ITS MONEY - aren't going to take being treated like animals for much longer.
The UFC was already paying the fighters peanuts out of the millions they were drawing, while also treating them like garbage. Probably wasn't smart to try and kill their dreams too, Dana.
Posted By: Rod Oracheski (Registered) on September 22, 2009 at 10:38 PM
Sorry Rampage, but you aren't Denzel.
I hope you aren't hoping for the A-Team movie to be a franchise. There wasn't a Starsky & Hutch sequel Dukes of Hazzard only had direct to video sequels with C-list actors.
I'm sure we'll see you in the octogon by UFC 112.
Posted By: Trashy (Guest) on September 22, 2009 at 10:41 PM
the rampage huggers are uniting hard on this cause.
does anybody else find it funny that rampage has retired from mma but calls out keyboard warriors to try to kick his ass if they don't like what he wrote?
i have no real opinion on this issue because i don't know the whole story, but calling out people because they don't like what you wrote is pathetic.
watch midnight meat train if you want to know how long rampage's acting-only career is going to last.
Posted By: dale (Guest) on September 22, 2009 at 11:03 PM
I agree with Rampage. You take a dump on a guy's head and then you expect him to say "Thanks for the hat?"
Posted By: The Iron Pope (Guest) on September 22, 2009 at 11:05 PM
Well at least he didn't bite any ears.
Posted By: The Dutch (Guest) on September 22, 2009 at 11:16 PM
WAAAAH!! WAAAH!! Stop crying Rampage. Your out blaming everybody except for your self. Your the one that told Dana your not going to do the movie, and then you went and did it anyay. You lose all respect from me you Mr.T wannabe.
Posted By: Kevin82 (Guest) on September 22, 2009 at 11:47 PM
Dollars to donuts Rampage's next role will be in a direct-to-bootleg film starring Roddy Piper or Michael Jai White -- or a future Madea movie.
Posted By: Trueindeed (Guest) on September 22, 2009 at 11:44 PM
While it is true he is under contract, he doesn't have to fight anymore if he retires. He can't go off galavanting with Pride or anybody else, but he can quit fighting.
Posted By: the danger stranger (Guest) on September 22, 2009 at 11:35 PM
I think he is just getting pissed with Dana dissing him online and on video recently. I'm sure he doesn't want to fight much longer, but anything Dana said won't hurt his acting career. The only thing that will do that is a movie or a role that sucks.
I'd be surprised if Dana doesn't chill a bit, make up with him and at least get him back to fight Rashad and maybe one or two more fights. If Rampage is worried about the bills, he isn't going to just roll right into acting because he plays BA Barackus. He'll still need to get out there and fight a bit more.
Posted By: Jeremy S (Registered) on September 22, 2009 at 11:51 PM
...so he complains that they made him fight so often, yet he was the one who publicly said he didn't want to take long breaks between fights again.
...also love how there's no mention of the UFC bailing and covering his ass when he went off the deep end on his little road rage trip.
If Rampage had a problem saying or doing anything he was asked at any time, he didn't have to play along/ sign the contracts/ fight/ or (allegedly) repeat what they wanted him to say.
Posted By: cyks (Guest) on September 23, 2009 at 12:27 AM
Dana should had left his punk ass in jail last year.
Posted By: Forrest (Guest) on September 23, 2009 at 12:29 AM
Bye, you won't really be that missed. It would have been nice to see Rashad pound your overrated ass, but oh well.
Posted By: Butters4Prez (Guest) on September 23, 2009 at 12:46 AM
As promised, the armchair warriors of the internerds have chimed in. Most of them never having been in a single fight that didn't result in a pocket protector being burst into a million pieces. You all have no idea what it's like being Rampage, so kindly STFU. Good God your responses have been lame.

Posted By: dale (Guest) on September 23, 2009 at 02:15 AM
Damn, what a shame. I hope Rampage isn't serious but I can understand if he feels like he isn't being appreciated by Dana. He can't do a Couture 180 because he isn't the Golden Boy of the UFC. If he is done fighting, then I hope then he is. The minute that he says that he was on emotions, everyone will call him a a flip-flop and a loser. I won't lie, the movie career won't be stellar, but he'll get money by acting like he took the same hits he took in the UFC. I'm glad that he stood up to that disrespectful, greedy douchebag Dana White though.
Posted By: Guest#0504 (Guest) on September 23, 2009 at 02:53 AM
WOW that sucks sucks he was one of the best fighters in the world just look at his PRIDE fights -The Silva one which were some of the greatest knockouts ever but I could tell his carrer was winding down but I still had my money on Rampage to beat Sugar Isnt he going to jail soon anyway so he wasnt going to fight him anyway IDK well see maybe someday I hope and as an Actor I think hes OK Im looking forward to the movie IDK maybe a little less now. THANKS 4 DA FIGHTS RAMPAGE!!!

In conclusion, fuck dana white for being such a manical imbecile. Some of his ideas have really launched ufc into the big time but then he goes and spoils it all with his big mouth and tiny brain. In the longterm the more of a voice dana is given the more harm he will do than good.
Posted By: Ste (Guest) on September 23, 2009 at 03:28 AM
Rampage is a JOKE....They don't respect his LOYALTY ?
That's why THEY WERE THERE in the JAIL he was after he went NUTS and KILLED the foetus of a pregnant young woman and ruined her life forever while wrecking havoc in L.A Streets and getting chased by COPS and refusing to surrender to them ?
This guy has a short term memory it seems...If it was NOT for the UFC , he would have NEVER ever gotten this role in this prominent movie AND would feature in the super hot flick "get the soap and become a male for half the price of admission"
Posted By: Quinton Jackson is DUMB (Guest) on September 23, 2009 at 09:56 AM
Yep, its obviously Dana White's fault that Rampage can't honor his own commitments. Damn that Dana, actually expecting his fighters to fight when they're scheduled to...who the hell does he think he is?
Posted By: Josh (Guest) on September 23, 2009 at 10:15 AM
Apparently when people say think of the fans, Rampage doesnt like them... so why should he fight just for us to be happy?
Still, Im disappointed he wont fight, he is one of my favorite fighters and a cool guy (video gamer too!) to boot. Im torn over this as personally my work commitments are something I take seriously however my personal commitments sometimes take precedent over them, much like what Rampage is apparently doing. I guess we will have to see how this plays out.
Posted By: AG Awesome (Guest) on September 23, 2009 at 06:32 AM
Good for Rampage. Hopefully Dana learns something from this that trashing fighters online and in videos won't get them to fight.

rampage is a pimp good luck with ur acting bro u are a legend
Posted By: sy the great (Guest) on September 23, 2009 at 07:52 AM
He'll be back in a few months, but maybe he's finally realizing along with everyone else that he's pretty well sucked ass the past year or so.
Posted By: kaktus316 (Guest) on September 23, 2009 at 10:46 AM
More power to him. True fans of the sport are disappointed since we won't be able to see Rampage vs. Rashad.
Troglodytes keep on bringing the hate! Morons.
Posted By: Grrr (Guest) on September 23, 2009 at 09:21 AM
i dont think we have seen the last of rampage but if we have thats a shame! I hope cooler heads will prevail, i mean he's one of the most popular fighters around, not to mention is highly ranked/considered amongst other top contenders
Posted By: tazz (Guest) on September 23, 2009 at 09:40 AM
He's honestly funny as hell & should do great in hollywood. Maybe it's only situational comedy on TUF, but I would think that guy is funny all of the time.
I didn't realize they were doing an A-Team movie, or that he got the BA Barackas part. Well done! I guess that's better than Rush Hour 4 or some shit
Posted By: Byzdalmyt (Guest) on September 23, 2009 at 10:09 AM
rampage who?
Posted By: stonk (Guest) on September 23, 2009 at 12:41 PM
heard he wanted to open up a driving school
Posted By: stonk (Guest) on September 23, 2009 at 12:44 PM
Fair enough Rampage.Do what you feel is right.
Posted By: Guest#4708 (Guest) on September 23, 2009 at 12:49 PM
Rampage isn't going anywhere. How many times does a guy have to pop off on his blog, twitter or some spur of the moment interview, only to have to backtrack completely? And why does that require that online nobodies take sides. The same people that immediately sided with Dana over Rampage bailing on the Rashad fight to act in the A-Team are now saying, oh, well, Rampage seems reasonable, Dana is the D-pag.
Posted By: BDC (Guest) on September 23, 2009 at 01:09 PM

I wanted to see that Rampage vs Rashad fight more than anything but i understand that he gotta take care of his family and stuff
It would have been better if he fought Rashad then left but Its cool
You gotta do What you gotta do
