Forrest Griffin To Step In Against Tito Ortiz At UFC 106
Posted by on 10.08.2009
The rematch is set...
Yahoo! Sports writer Kevin Iole is reporting that Forrest Griffin will face Tito Ortiz next month at UFC 106. According to Iole the fight has been confirmed by UFC President Dana White. Griffin is stepping in on short notice to replace Mark Coleman, who pulled out of the fight earlier this week.
The fight will be a rematch from UFC 59, where Ortiz edged out a split decision win over Griffin.
Forrest is already on a 2 fight losing streak - Tito is returning from an extended break. A loss here- for either fighter would set them back significantly.

Oh snap! Get ready for Forrest to go to war with Tito! Unless he gets knock out by Tito which is unlikely....

Sweet! That's a great fight. It's 50-50 in my mind

I agree with Cyks. Let's just hope that they can pull off the same kind of match they did in their first encounter. With Forrest getting retribution.

Forrest's balls must be the size of VW vans to take this fight. I know he's gotten better since they last fought but the fact is he still lost and Tito is still a pretty good fighter.
If Forrest loses he'll have lost 3 in a row and NOBODY stays in the UFC with that kind of losing streak, not even the original Ultimate Fighter.

CYKS is right huge fight for both fighters here.... personally i dislike Tito and i hope Forest KOs him.... hey maybe if Forrest wins he will get some of him personality back

Extremely risky fight indeed, cyks. The potential for 0-3 or 0-2-1 in the last 3, for Forrest and Ortiz, respectively. Granted, against top tier competition. I think Forrest needs this more, and a great performance even in a loss for Ortiz could raise his stock more than a TKO over a tough, but outgunned Coleman.

Nailed it. I argued for this fight a lot all over the net so I'm especially glad it happened.

This will show us if Forrest can metally recover from his last fight.

Forrest is a total douche....Tito is a heel douche.....man....can't wait to hear the crowd reaction on this one. Forrest can never go back to the everyman hero that he once was and I really hope to hear Tito rip on him for running away from Silva.

yeah this is very risky but holy hell, i am realllllly looking forward to this. this should be awesome.

Many, many buys.

Slaughter him Tito!

I don't see it as risky. Griffin won the first fight if you ask me, terrible decision from the judges. He's out for revenge, plus looking to explode after the terrible showing against Silva. I see him murdering Tito nearly...AND GOOD.

get ready for Forrest Gump 2.0 after the fight

See Liddell, Chuck, and Silva, Wanderlei... If I am not mistaken, both of them have lost 3 of their last 4 fights.

I dont see how this is risky at all. UFC isnt dropping either of these guys, and niether one is close to a shot at the belt. Who cares. Should be a great fight with ZERO title implications.

Chuck is not on a 3 fight losing streak, his win over Wanderleo saved him from that.
Wanderlei was on a 3 fight losing streak before he murdered Jardine but those losses came from Cro Cop and Henderson in the OW GP and at PRIDE US repespectively.
I should say nobody gets a 3 fight losing streak from UFC fights and stays in.

WOW. Coleman was clearly a set up match for Tito but now this is big news. Both men have everything to prove. I can't beleive Forest would take this on such short notice he must have been training his ass off since running out the door.

Wow, I can't believe took a fight again so quickly. But good on him I guess. Not sure what this will do for Tito Ortiz though. Especially if he loses.

sources say: that Griffin is still on the run.. some people state they have seen him in Costa Rica, others saw him Run across the bridge in San Francisco.. one kid in china even said "i just saw him run by in the street and he was screming Silva is chasing me! he turned right at the corner and he just disappaeard" ... the American Athelic Commisoin.. AAC. are confirming that at that pace he will break the record set by the other forrest.. Forrest Gump from greenbow Alabama!

Ortiz by G 'n P. The over-rated Forrest will run like a bitch, AGAIN!

Forrest via Devastation. Then he will lay on Titos wife!!!!!!!

I dunno, I think Forrest has only gotten better since their last fight. He was winning against Rashad before Rashad caught that kick, and he was facing the Number 1 guy in the world ever in Silva. Sure that was a total bummer but still, you have to give Forrest credit for taking another top-flight competitor on in Tito. Besides, if Forrest wins, Tito's not going away. Hell, they could even play up the rubber match between them in the future.

You mean fall inside Tito's wife.

I'm rooting for Tito. If he's really over his back problems, he is the better fighter anyway.
