Posted By: Gus (Guest) on October 24, 2009 at 10:31 PM
Poor Yoshida. Viciously knocked out twice in a row. I'll at least credit him for not taking easy fights. But still. Maybe a stint in Japan is in the order.
Posted By: The Burger King (Guest) on October 24, 2009 at 10:33 PM
Johnson looked huge, if he fails to make weight in his next fight it will be trouble. Nasty knockout though
Posted By: mstrong73 (Guest) on October 24, 2009 at 10:36 PM
Or maybe they are just LA douchebags. Joe Rogan you are my hero
Posted By: mstrong73 (Guest) on October 24, 2009 at 11:32 PM
These announcers suck tonight. They sound like fans with mics.
Posted By: hmmm (Guest) on October 24, 2009 at 11:33 PM

Posted By: Guest#2280 (Guest) on October 24, 2009 at 11:59 PM
Johnson has trouble making weight because he walks around above 200lbs.
Okami lost, so I'll stop bitching about him not getting a title shot.
Posted By: K. Bett (Guest) on October 25, 2009 at 12:23 AM
So Machida just lost the first round of his career?
I wish I was watching this.... I hate working on Saturdays

Fucking robbery! Shogun won that fight
Posted By: UK_MMA_Fan (Guest) on October 25, 2009 at 12:44 AM
There is NO way Machida won that fight. Bullshit
Posted By: Dylan (Guest) on October 25, 2009 at 12:44 AM
wow no fucking way did machida win
Posted By: Guest#8918 (Guest) on October 25, 2009 at 12:45 AM
WOW. I like Machida but Shogun was robbed. He won at least 3 maybe 4 rounds. Lets see those two go at it again in February
Posted By: mstrong73 (Guest) on October 25, 2009 at 12:45 AM
That fight was Rua's
No FUCKIN WAY Machida won that fight
Rua is back
Posted By: Ian (Guest) on October 25, 2009 at 12:46 AM
Hmm, I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought Rua won this fight. Gonna have to rewatch the fights and on mute, since Rogan and Goldberg couldn't get over the fact that someone was actually able to touch Machida, and that may have affected my perceptions.
Posted By: Steve (Guest) on October 25, 2009 at 12:47 AM
BULLSHIT! SHOGUN WAS ROBBED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted By: Guest#1305 (Guest) on October 25, 2009 at 12:47 AM
TO BE THE MAN SHOGUN,YOU GOTTA BEAT THE MAN WOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Posted By: Slick Ric (Guest) on October 25, 2009 at 12:49 AM
WOW! Shogun got ROBBED. He won the title tonight, and the judges stole it from him. As Ric Flair used to say, "To be the Man, you have to BEAT the Man". Never leave it up to the judges. What a horrible decision...
Posted By: Ace Bradley (Registered) on October 25, 2009 at 12:51 AM
the fact that not one judge scored it at least 3-2 for Rua is pretty suspect to me. it was a close fight but come on. i dont even think id give machida 2 of the 5 rounds, but it was an entertaining fight, even though i dont agree with the descision.
Posted By: Guest#2586 (Guest) on October 25, 2009 at 12:51 AM
Fuck. Are you serious? Machida is still champion? Bleh. That means we're gonna have to hear "The Dregon es champeeown" in broken English a little while longer.
Posted By: GeeSpotter (Guest) on October 25, 2009 at 12:51 AM
Wow, Shogun got screwed. He won at least 3 rounds....
Posted By: Brad (Guest) on October 25, 2009 at 12:52 AM
So another bad judging decision? Why doesn't this surprise me? Or maybe they wanted to keep Machida looking strong.... 3 straight champions with no successful defenses would have looked pretty bad.
All in all, hopefully this finally proves Machida isn't nearly as good as people think(or Rua is way better then people think). As soon as Machida faced an actual good fighter he was no longer dominant, and(apparently) should have lost. So now stop discussing Machida with the likes of Fedor and GSP, he's not nearly that good. Or like I said, either that or Rua is amazing.
Posted By: Shawno420 (Guest) on October 25, 2009 at 12:52 AM
Wtf, how did Machida win that fight? I disagree that he even won one round. Shogun blocked everything on that flurry at the end of round 3 and also tagged Machida with a stiff right. Round 5 was kinda close but again Shogun landed all the damage and showed all the aggression, all Machida really did most of the entire fight actually was run backwards and get hit by leg kicks. The few times he tried to explode forward, outside of the brief flurry at the end of Round 3, Shogun stuffed cold with counters.
This is the worst decision I've seen in MMA, and I think it's because they put so much hype and marketing into the "Machida Era." Rogan couldn't even admit Shogun was doing well most of the fight and started talking about Anderson Silva when he begrudgingly looked like he had to admit Machida lost the fight.
I like Machida a lot, but Shogun was the better fighter tonight, and probably is overall now that he's back into form. It kinda sucks for me because these are my two favorite fighters, but I like Shogun's style more and felt he deserved this, plus he already had 3 losses so now it's gonna be tough for him. What bullshit.
Posted By: Guest#1406 (Guest) on October 25, 2009 at 12:52 AM
Machicda's title reign is a LIE !@
This is what happens when MMA has to be governed by Boxing rules and regulations of Nevada State Boxing commission and Judges by over the hill Boxing Judges in their 60's !

Shogun got robbed.
Posted By: Angryufcfan (Guest) on October 25, 2009 at 12:55 AM
I was rooting for Machida, but holy hell SHOGUN GOT ROBBED. You could tell before the announcement, Machida KNEW he lost. I cannot believe Machida not only won, but 3 rounds of 5? What the hell fight was Cecil Peoples and the other 2 judges watching?
At my count, Shogun won rounds 1, 2, and 4, no doubt. 3rd round was a toss up, 5th round was a toss up but you could even lean Machida.
Shogun should have won 48-47.
And Steve Mazzagatti needs to be relieved of his duties. I thought Valasquez would win, but there's no way the fight should have been stopped when it was.
Posted By: Nick (Guest) on October 25, 2009 at 12:55 AM
Horrible decision on the main event, Machida was clearly out-struck by Shogun. I hated to see two of my fav fighters against each other, but that was a wrong call.

Im absolutely floored by the decision between Shogun and Machida. You Machida lost when the Band wagon starts chanting "SHOGUN, SHOGUN"

my great comment got robbed !~

This is how boxing lost its luster.
YOU CANNOT HAVE BOXING JUDGES FOR MMA
Thanks for ruining a great fight.
Posted By: TheR (Guest) on October 25, 2009 at 02:28 AM
Look i went back and watched the first two rounds and here is what ive come up with thus far....
Lyoto landed the most strikes in round 1 and 2.
Shogun landed the harder strikes but was outstuck.
It looks like the judges went by quanity of quality, and if you turn the sound of (to clear the bias of the announcers) this fight is closer than it appears.
Posted By: Whocares (Guest) on October 25, 2009 at 04:21 AM
Shogun = robbed. I honestly think that there was something up, a fix. There is no way that the thousands in attendance and everyone (literally everyone) that I've heard or read an opinion from is picking Rua but the three judges somehow unanimously picked Machida. The Athletic Commission needs to investigate this. They need to "Ortiz v Shamrock" this one and rematch them immediately on free TV (aka the Vera v Couture card if they are medically cleared).
