Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Cain Velasquez In The Works For UFC 108
Posted by Larry Csonka on 11.04.2009

According to a report by tatame.com, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira's manager recently spoke with Sensei Sportv's blog and said that Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Cain Velasquez would take place at UFC 108. UFC 108 has no official main event announced, due to the fact that Brock Lesnar still has not resumed training due to his illness, and that bout may be scrapped from the card. Here is the rumored card for the event:

- Champ Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin (for heavyweight title)*
- Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva*
- Junior Dos Santos vs. Gabriel Gonzaga*
- Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Cain Velasquez*
- Carlos Condit vs. Paul Daley*
- Tyson Griffin vs. Jim Miller*
- Martin Kampmann vs. Rory Markham*
- Joe Lauzon vs. Sam Stout*
- Dan Lauzon vs. Cole Miller*
- Ryan Jensen vs. Mark Munoz*
- Jake Ellenberger vs. Mike Pyle*

* - Not officially announced

OMG! This is awesome! I totally agree with this bout and the winner should unquestionably get the next title shot. If Junior gets by Gonzaga (which he should), I'd put him in a #1 contender's fight next. I can't believe the heavyweight division is so exciting (at least to me) now since it was so bad a few years ago.

OH boy, this is one I want to see but is this really the smartest thing to do? What if Velasquez loses? He's being built up as the next big heavyweight. I dunno, I'm torn on this one but I sure as hell want to see it! :)

I don't know who to root for! lol

Think Nog already deserves a title shot, but sure, why not? If he can't beat Cain, he probably can't beat Lesnar.

As a casual fan, this looks like the most loaded card since UFC100 by far if Brock fights; solid card even if he doesn't. Noguiera/Velasquez should definitely be a #1 contender's match for the next shot at Brock (let's face it, he's going to destroy Carwin) and then Dos Santos if he wins will be in the #1 contender fight after that.

I've watched a few UFC events at bars but this may be the first card I actually order on PPV if the four big flights stay on the card

would've rather seen Nog vs. Mir 2 & Cain vs. JDS. Gonzaga has no business on a main card.
