How did Couture/Vera on cable do before Pacquiao/Cotto on PPV?
Spike TV sent out a press release with the ratings on the UFC 105 event broadcast on tape delay on Spike TV on November 14. The event drew a 1.9 household rating and averaged 2.9 million viewers. The show peaked with the headlining fight of Randy Couture vs. Brandon Vera with 3.7 million viewers.
Also according to Spike TV, the event outdrew CBS's Saturday Night Fights event on November 7 featuring Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers significantly in these key male ratings demographics:
P 18-34 by 30% (UFC 105 2.37, CBS Saturday Night Fights 1.82)
M 18-34 by 49% (UFC 105 3.45, CBS Saturday Night Fights 2.32)
M 18-24 by 73% (UFC 105 2.99, CBS Saturday Night Fights 1.73)
M 25-34 by 37% (UFC 105 3.78, CBS Saturday Night Fights 2.76)
M 18-49 by 16% (UFC 105 2.84, CBS Saturday Night Fights 2.45)
UFC 105 also scored the most viewers in the male 18-34 demographic (994,000 viewers) in it's timeslot.
Sucks to be Strike Force because Rodgers vs Fedor is the biggest fight they could promote by far. And both our unknown to the casual fans who are a large demographic that watches UFC. You can pretty much kiss PPV goodbye and all the revenue that comes with it.

I love it, more proof that no one gives a damn about the overrated Fedor in the big picture. Get off your high horse Fedor and go to UFC to fight some real competition then maybe you'll get some recognition.

Well to all these Fedor haters, I bet many of the folks who watched his match will come back, whereas I'm not sure the same can be said for those who watched Couture hug his opponent for 15 mins.

And it's not just more likely that casual fans watched a free UFC event ahead of a Strikeforce event because they don't know who Fedor or Strikeforce is yet?
UFC has a guaranteed audience that will watch their shows no matter who's on because it's America and it's a brand name. Strikeforce got it's highest rating ever with Fedor, and is therefore climbing up.
ONE big event and you people think Strikeforce and Fedor should outdraw the UFC? Are you stupid?!
Strikeforce needs time to make it's name to get these ratings. It took the UFC long enough to get them.
Once again, there's a difference between UFC fans and MMA fans. And you four are proving it right now.
