Dana White Discusses Losing Fighters To Injury, Delivering Fights, More
Posted by Larry Csonka on 11.19.2009

Dana White recently spoke with Yahoo Sports! about recent injuries and more, here are the highlights…

On Recent Injuries And The Loss Of Fighters: "This sounds crass but when you're dealing with humans as your product, crap happens," White said. "It's no different in football or baseball. I always say, the only guarantee when my big toe hits the floor in the morning is that something bad is about to happen."

On Delivering Fights: "It's about the fights, though," White said. "The one thing no one can ever say is that we don't deliver good fights. People always look at a card and say it's not going to be any good. Then it ends up being the best card of the year. Just because Brock Lesnar is not in the main event doesn't mean there won't be great fights. If you're a fight fan you want great fights. We deliver great fights."

On The UFC 105 Rating Not Doing As Well As They Thought: "And we had to go up against a big boxing match (Manny Pacquiao-Miguel Cotto) and college football, which we also beat in the demo."

Oh,but Vince McMahon isn't allowed to use football and other sports as a reason for his ratings and ppv buys? Dana, you wanna know why your buys were down?People are losing interest. No good new fighters.Your best fighters peaked before the MMA boom.Shamrock,Ortiz,Cotoure,Lidell,Silva etc.All old and past their prime.

You sold the card on Couture alone. Thats why the rating wasn't as high as expected. That and it wasn't really a great night of fights.

Really? Wasn't a great night of fights? On paper it was awful but every fight was exciting except the main event. I call that a great night of fights. Went way beyond my expectations
