White: I Think Coleman's Done
Posted by Chris Lansdell on 02.07.2010

UFC President Dana White is ready to bring an end to the UFC career of Hall of Famer Mark Coleman.
"I think tonight was probably Coleman's last fight in the UFC," White said. "I'm not taking anything away from Mark Coleman. I have nothing but respect for him, and I'll say this now, too: Mark Coleman has always been a stand-up guy to me," White continued. "He'll always be a part of this organization. I just think he'll have a hard time competing with the guys at the top level. Age is a factor with him."

Coleman was choked out in the second round of his fight with fellow Hallf of Famer Randy Couture, a fight that Dana says was a goal of Coleman's. "This fight was a dream for Coleman," White said. "It was a dream of his to fight Randy Couture, and he wanted this thing bad. He said it best at the press conference. He said, 'Randy Couture has accomplished a lot of things and has a lot of things. I want to take some of those things from him Saturday night.' He went in there, and he wasn't able to do anything. He didn't get off. Randy pretty much beat him everywhere."

After the shit talking after the fight, we HAVE to see Ortiz/Coleman as The Hammer's swan song.

What does this mean for Steven Boner then.

I want Coleman to put his chin down and rip Tito up. Damn, do it in Strikeforce or Japan if the UFC won't....depending on UFC contract obligations of course.

At least we agree about Couture.

...either Coleman was a top fighter and beating him made Randy a contender, or Coleman has lost his abilities and Randy beat a can.

You can't have it both ways.

Coleman has the strenght and the skills just no gas in the tank at all and no END = kiss of death in MMA.

Coleman hasn't evolved his game, plain and simple. He's strong as a bull and tough, but age is catching up with him as is his limited skillset.

Brandon Vera is the biggest underachiever of all time. The guy's just not a winner. And even Dana knows Coleman is done, and that he can't "compete".

So if Randy Couture ends up getting a title shot based on those wins, I'm calling BULL. SHIT.
