Ed Soares Already Making Excuses For Chael Sonnen Not To Get A Title Shot
Posted by Larry Csonka on 02.09.2010

It looks like Ed Soares is at it again, trying to decide who Anderson Silva will face, if he is still champion come time for Chael Sonnen's title shot…

"We've spoken with Chael on many occasions and have the utmost respect for him. He's never really come across in this manner, and it's obvious he's just drumming up hype in hopes to get a bout with Anderson. We are fine if this is what the UFC wants, but if you look at this logistically, Sonnen should fight Demian Maia first. Demian beat up easily, by submission, so why not make them fight first, to determine who gets a shot at the title? It's funny, but really, who actually listens to what Chael Sonnen has to say? The only time people listen is when he talks about Anderson. Who is he, really? If you walk down the street and you mention his name, does anyone really know who this guy is? Likely not, but if you mention Anderson Silva, people know the name. Chael's also said a few things about Anderson's choice of clothes and that he wears earrings, didn't he? Sounds to us like he may have a crush on Anderson."

"It's funny, but really, who actually listens to what Chael Sonnen has to say?"

Me, after seeing what he did to Marquardt.

Thats A good point Maia did submit Chael pretty easily.

Honestly Soares does have a point, not sure about the man crush, but about the #1 contender. Maia beat Sonnen, Marquart beat Maia, Sonnen beat Marquart. So it should be Maia vs Sonnen II for the title shot.

Although I truly think the next fight for Anderson Silva win or lose is GSP. Both champions have cleaned out their respective divisions of any name contenders. Not saying they've beat everyone but anyone else that they can headline a ppv with that people would be willing to pay money for.

If Anderson really wants the biggest fights he would ask for GSP. Even though Anderson would have the weight and reach advantage I still think GSP's wrestling would be his biggest obstacle in either the Welterweight, Light Heavyweight, Middleweight divisions.

Who's more irritating, Dana White, Ed Soares, or that tool from Fedor's camp?

Funny, I was actually thinking the same thing about Soares. Seriously, shut up and take the fights given to you. Anderson may be the top 1/2 P4P in the world, but in reality he is not a big PPV draw; he needs the UFC a lot more than they need him.

What's happened to Silva? For a guy ready to quit MMA and start boxing and go through his contract so fast, all the sudden his handlers are turning down fights left and right and coming up with enough excuses to make Tito proud.

How about you man up, champ, and start fighting instead of letting Soares make you look like a chicken?

I kind of want Anderson Silva to lose just so Ed Soares can shut the fuck up.

FFS, does this guy wanna fight anyone?? If he doesn't wanna defend the belt then vacate it and move to 205. It's a long shot but I hope Vitor wins the belt, to shake up the division.

I respect Anderson's skills but he seems bored at 185 and either him or his management bitch about any opponent they get offered.

And nobody know who the fuck Ed Soares is either so he should shut his fat bald mouth and quit playing Ranjin Singh to Anderson's Great Khali.

Here's the thing: Say that Silva's camp is trying to duck people all you want, but they have stated (and Anderson himself) that they only want BIG fights. If anyone here considers Sonnen a BIG fight, I'd like to know why. Sure he's on a hot streak and certainly the top middleweight contender, but I think after Vitor (who is a bigger name than Sonnen), Silva probably wants to go to LHW or HW for a superfight.
Mark my words though, if the UFC wants Silva to defend his belt again before he does a superfight, he will, and will destroy Sonnen.

ed soares honestly makes anderson silva look bad. I love anderson silva but his stupid translator is getting way to much media time lol

It's a semi-intelligent point.

What Ed is saying makes absolute sense. How is Chael Sonnen a legitimate contender when Demian Maia made him tap like a punk a couple of fights ago.

Ed Soares remembers what happened when Anderson fought losers like Cote and Leites who both had no business being in the ring with Anderson and who didn't deserve a title shot. And all of these morons blamed Anderson for it.

So now SOares is looking for big fights and legitimate contenders to make sure that doesn't happen again. If it wasn't for dumb keyboard warriors blaming anderson for those garbage fights against inferior opponents then maybe he would have no problem fighting losers. But he wants the big fights so that's what the UFC should give him. Not losers that can run their mouth but have zero striking skills.

Wow, just wow. Sonnen now has some serious bulletin board material to want to rip through Silva's head. After the beatdown he put on Nate The Great, I can see him at least being competitive with Silva.

This is just getting bizarre. Maia/Sonnen does make sense though.

He is right. That win over Okami was the worst thing to happen to Sonnen, because he hasn't shut up since.

This guy's getting as bad as Vadim Finkelstein. Yeah, Maia beat Sonnen, but Marquardt knocked Maia the f out since then, and Sonnen beat Marquardt fairly handily three days ago. So how is Ed Soares, who's never fought a day in his life, making the determination that Sonnen hasn't improved since that first fight with Maia?

Ed Soares is an idiot.

Wow i never saw this coming at all

He only needed to make one point. If Chael(What a fucking name) fights Silva, your going to have to put another title fight or co-main event on that PPV to make it worth it. Nobody wants to pay 50 big ones to see Silva knock the fuck outta Chael, or Chael lay on top of Silva for 5 rounds while the crowd slowly falls asleep.

So if Demian beats Chael does he need to avenge his loss to Nate? That loss was worse than Chaels. So then we get Demian/Nate II and if Nate wins do we need Nate/Chael II? This is rediculous!

Who did Anderson beat to get his title shot? Were his wins as impressive as Chael's last three win? NO!

Would Chael win? Probably not but I'm so tired of hearing the same old crap from Soares. Defend the title or go fight Roy. I can't wait until Anderson is gone.

he does kinda have a point. i mean Maia owned him pretty easily

Posted By: wolvie316 (Guest)  on February 09, 2010 at 07:22 PM

the thing is though styles make matches. Sonnen beat Nate because he pwned him wrestling on the ground. the only prob with doing that against Maia is because that is where Maia wants to be and 95% of the time, if he's on the ground with you, you're gonna get submitted.
