411 MMA Feedback: Should Frank Trigg Retire?

Frank Trigg's return to the UFC has not gone as planned. At UFC 109, Trigg lost to Matt Serra, which was his second straight loss. So the question is, should Frank Trigg retire?

Yes. But I wouldn't mind seeing him fight Dennis Hallman again.

I say him and Phil Baroni should fight in A loser leaves town match.

retire from the big leagues,at least. I dont think he brings anything new to the table,he is just....there

No, at least not yet.

He lost to Koscheck, and there's no shame in that. No shame in losing to a former UFC champion either. I think they need to find Trigg a journeyman or up-and-comer, and if he loses that fight as well, then he should get cut. Trigg's name value deserves better than to be cut after only two losses.

Yeah he should. At this point in the mma game in the ufc the competition is top leval. If he can not take one on the chin then a he needs to reevaluate his career. He didnt even try to take serra down ala gsp's victory. I think he has lost his desire. not to mention he has never really been that good, you know what i mean.

$10 says he ends up back in TNA...

While his time as a high level fighter is likely done, I don't know that he needs to retire completely. Kos is a top 5 guy, Serra is top 20. There are still fighters in the UFC Trigg could likely beat, and he would do very well outside the UFC. I see him going the Jeremy Horn/David Louiseau route of headlining regional circuit cards on his name value. As long as he doesn't go to the Tank Abbott extreme - there is no reason for Trigg to retire just yet.

frank trig just isnt good in ufc probably the nerves of the big show, hed do better in smaller show almost if he pulled a hendo, not meaning necessarily him, but its like a big fish in the Ocean, so you need to move to a pond to actually be dominant yadd yadda

He probably should retire but I doubt he will, either way he should be cut from UFC.

No. I used to listen to Trigg on MMA Weekly Radio back in the day and am a rare Trigg fan. He's not that good of a fighter anymore, maybe due to age, training partners or the mental block from getting beat by Hughes twice. Hell, maybe he never was a good fighter, but the guy makes a great heel and can sell fights which is something fighters need to do more of. He has wins over Hallman, Misaki & Mayhem Miller. A move to Strikeforce or Japan would be best for him, although a fight against Baroni (who is in a similar situation) would be welcomed. He'd fit well right into Strikeforce welterweight or middleweight division. Sheilds talked alot of shit about Trigg back in the Rumble on the Rock tourney, so that might be a good fight. Trigg sucked on commentary for Pride, so I have no interest in seeing that, but I think Trigg still has something left to give to the sport.

It's ultimately up to Trigg. I think he should and become a broadcaster full time. He's a great broadcaster and he can continue to be a huge asset to the sport while not fighting.

Yes without a doubt its time for him to retire. Truthfully it had been time for him to retire about five or so fights ago. I think the game has somewhat passed him by and getting older doesnt help. You cant just be good at wrestling and have bad/mediocre standup and submissions. He could probably do decent in the smaller orgs but theres very few people he could even beat much less outwrestle in the UFC which is his main strength.
