Junior Dos Santos vs. Roy Nelson Planned for UFC 117

According to Junior's Twitter...
Junior Dos Santos (11-1 MMA, 5-0 UFC) and Roy Nelson (15-4 MMA, 2-0 UFC) will face off at UFC 117. The fight had been rumoured for a while, and Dos Santos confirmed it today on his Twitter feed.
Nelson had been scheduled to fight Cheick Kongo at UFC 116, but Kongo was forced to withdraw with a back injury. UFC 117 takes place on August 7 at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, CA. No matches are confirmed for the card yet, but currently rumoured are:
MAIN CARD
* Champ Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen (for middleweight title)
* Thiago Alves vs. Jon Fitch
* Junior Dos Santos vs. Roy Nelson
* Ricardo Almeida vs. Matt Hughes
* Rafael dos Anjos vs. Clay Guida
PRELIMINARY CARD
* Tim Boetsch vs. Thiago Silva
* Dennis Hallman vs. Ben Saunders
Not a bad looking card, I would say Dos Santos/Nelson could be a nice co main event, and Guida/dos Anjos could be a great FOTN contender. If only they could somehow get Ben Saunders on the main card I would be a happy man.

What a crappy matchup Dos Santos against Nelson. Theres the "Punchers Chance" on Nelsons side but I can't see that happening. Dos Santos has nothin to gain from this. Maybe Dana wants to toss Nelson out too.

Damn, I like Roy Nelson but I dont think he is ready for Junior Dos Santos. I still hope he can pull off a knock out punch though but i aint betting on it.

Boetsch vs. Silva actually might wind up being a Spike fight for this show, which really if you're a fighter is almost better than being on the main card. More exposure, I bet the sponsors love it.
I'd actually make that the UFC on Versus 2 sub main under Jones vs. Vladdy.

i said it before and i'll say it again...awesome card...you could ask "why is thiago silva or ben saunders on the prelims??" But the entire card is sweet..dos anjos/guida is major FOTN contender...the only one i'm worried about being a sleeper is our long awaited alves/fitch fight...but it also has potential for some intense moments.
