Strikeforce Signs Ryan Couture

The son of the Natural to debut in August…

Strikeforce has announced that Ryan Couture, son of MMA legend Randy "The Natural" Couture, has signed a multi-fight agreement with Strikeforce. Ryan will make his professional MMA debut on Friday, Aug. 13 at the STRIKEFORCE Challengers event at Dodge Theatre in Phoenix, Ariz. He will be fighting at lightweight. Couture compiled an amateur record of 5-1-1 competing as a lightweight with all five wins coming by way of submission.

It would be an awesome fight if he fought his dad or his ex-stepmom. Maybe him against dad for the right to fight his stepmom. Maybe a story can come out about how she spurned Ryan's advances during her courtship with Randy, to help sell the fight.

People would criticize them for being a circus, but you know they would make a ton of money.

I hear Ryan actually takes this really seriously and has a lot of his dad's natural tenacity and athleticism. Let's not be so hard on the kid and cry nepotism until we see him fight, it's only Strikeforce Challengers, better than a lot of people would do in their pro debut but it's not like Randy just got him a job in the UFC or something. It's working your way up.
