SDCC 2010: Josh Barnett Discusses Brock Lesnar, His Next Fight, More
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 07.30.2010
411mania.com caught up with Josh Barnett at the San Diego Comic-Con. What did the former UFC heavyweight champion have to say on his most recent win and his MMA future?
While at San Diego Comic-Con this year, 411mania ran into admitted fanboy and MMA fighter, Josh Barnett, who recently defeated Geronimo Dos Santos. Barnett was willing to give some comments on a few topics:
-On Fedor's loss: Just carelessness. He's been used to shucking the triangle off like that very often within matches and probably in practice and he just happened to try a technique that wasn't a very safe bet against the type of guy he was going against.
-All controversy aside would he still like to fight Fedor?: I could fight anybody at any time, any where, and any place. If someone wants it to happen, it'll happen.
-On fighting in Strikeforce: I'm open to everyone and anyone and I always have been because at the end of the day all I want to do is get in the ring and smash someone's head in.
-On his last opponent, Geronimo Dos Santos: He's a good guy. He's got a lot of potential. I think he needs to find a camp to help develop that, but a big physical specimen.
-On his next MMA fight: I don't know. Honestly, I'm going to take a vacation for once I think. Yeah you never know, if the right things come down the pipe, always ready for battle.
-Brock Lesnar's match-up with Cain Velasquez: The thing about Brock is that he's so raw, every fight he has, he's always in danger of losing. If he gets knocked out or submitted, I can see it. I won't be amazed. However, I also won't be amazed if he puts them on their back and smashes their heads in . . . I think right now, Brock should stick to his grappling, his submission work, and his wrestling. The thing is, he should improve on his striking of course, but he's going to win more matches putting people on their backs and using his wrestling more than anything else.
-On Lesnar's victory over Shane Carwin: I was impressed with the side choke he went into. The rest of it? No.
Josh Barnett will be working as a professional wrestler on Inoki's IGF promotion on September 25 in Tokyo, Japan. The Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels will also be on the card.
I'd love to see Barnett vs LES-NAR, drug testing be damned! The world's toughest nerd versus the biggest bully on the block.

Amazing how entertaining and interesting Barnett can be when he talks , I'm still puzzled at why he is using roids so much and not caring getting caught three damn times about them and ruining his legacy and UFC Title reign ?
BTW I DO Think he is easily Top 5-10 HW Material and would be a tremendous addiction to SF growing HW Division.
The Baby Face Assassin has never ever fought any of these guys (well he was supposed to fight the former but failed big time, to me he was and is still SCARED of FEDOR).
Barnett is someone who knows how to hype fights, is a likeable and fun on air character and very well spoken.
It's obvious The Reem has been on roids since years and he is their champ, so signing Barnett won't hurt them really.
At this point, I would take a Barnett who is 26-5 with a six wins streak and undefeated since four years with his roids to fight with any top SF HW over a Lashley who is 5-0 (five cans) , totally unproven and ducking anyone legit (Del Rosario x 2) to remain undefeat.
WAR BARNETT !

Every pro athlete takes some form of PED. If they didn't, they wouldn't have made it to a professional level. Barnett just so happens to constantly get caught.
