You want to cut Roy Nelson Dana?
You pay him $20,000 for the fight despite he's more of a draw than 95% of your talent.

Damn, that's just wrong. ESPN should look into this.

Thompson, Poirier, Werdum, and Nelson all got at least 65,000 more than that numer through Fight Night bonuses. Thats not counting any sponsor money or other locker room bonuses.

Between locker room bonuses, sponsorships, PPV percentages (for a few of the top fighters), and various other incentives, fighters make MUCH more (3-4X) than what is shown here.
Not to mention, this is for just one night. Many of these guys will fight 3-4 times a year.

20,000 for Roy ! Jesus thats only 10 grand above your any Tuff fighter gets! Hell keith Jardine was still getting only 10, 000 a fight even after he beat Forrest Griffin and Chuck Liddel! Up until his firing! Sorry Roy Enlson puts on a show! He Won Tuff took out Brandon Shwab , Beat Crocop and went full 3rds to losing decision to Mir, Werdum and Junior! He should at least get 40, 000 just for drawing power and toughness alone!

No one in the crowd gave a shit about Werdum and he made 10X more than roy for the fight? Roy Nelson needs a new manager. He puts on some enternaining fights and should be making closer to other fighters.

Except that the $20k/ fight salary is the prize for winning TUF.
Otherwise, he'd have started out like the rest at $6-12k/ fight.
Sure, he KO'd Schaub, beat Struve and CroCop, and went 3 full rounds with JDS, Mir, and Werdum... but that's still showing him at a 3-3 winning streak, and only 2-3 since winning TUF.
Hopefully, for his sake, he has one fight left on contract where he can continue to lose weight, show he still has it in him, win in highlight reel fashion, and be able to negotiate a better contract for himself. If this was his last fight on contract, which it probably was being his 5th since winning TUF, he might be forced to take a pay cut to remain employed.

So koscheck ended up 125k up on pierce after "winning" their fight?
Looks like pierce got robbed twice then...

Werdum is still making that Strikeforce contract money.

Roy boy is under the TUF contract for 3 years with Dec. 2012 being the end of it so yes the 20,000 is accurate for base pay in the third year. I'm sure he'll get a lot more if he doesn't get cut for losses on the new one but he needs to win some right now because he's beyond the three and out mark. That low pay is probably all that saved his ass to this point.

5 times more, not 10.

While I've never seen a reason to doubt UFC's claim that fighters make many times more than their base salary, these figures just look horrible on paper.
I wish a few more fighters were willing to openly disclose their full pay, including sponsorships, additional bonuses, etc. I think a lot of skepticism would die down pretty much immediately if people really knew what, say, Carlos Condit and a guy like Chris Cope truly made for 143.

Yeah, you can clearly see how Crybaby Diaz "doesn't need this shit", because he is being severely underpaid.

I think the holy crap part of all this is the fact that you think these are their annual salaries.

"I think the holy crap part of all this is the fact that you think these are their annual salaries.

Your idiotic way of thinking is pretty amazing. You do realize that people are complaining because of the disparities between the varying salary differences right? Condit has been the #1 contender for like 6 months now, but with this "interim" title being made, he's the new champ and getting paid about half as much as the the guy he beat, that doesn't make sense, the contracts in UFC are whats fucking homo, this shit should be negotiated on a fight by fight basis, or a new guideline should be set up for where your fight exist on the card, you should get bonuses in accordance to where they set you up. For fucks sake, Condit was going to get $55k flat, and Werdum, $100k? Somethings fucked up right there.
