Ryan Bader Talks About UFC 144 Bout
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 02.08.2012

Ryan Bader recently spoke about facing Quinton "Rampage" Jackson at UFC 144. Check out the highlights:

On being a fan of Jackson from his early days: "You can go back with your career afterwards and say I fought all these guys, but now's not the time. Now, I get a name like 'Rampage,' and my mindset changes."

On Jackson becoming more predictable: "You fight a guy like Jon Jones, you really don't know what he's going to bring. It's hard to bring somebody in and have somebody replicate that. But fighting 'Rampage,' you know what he's trying to do. He's trying to walk you down, use head movement, and throw those big bombs on you. He does have some elbows and knees, but watching his fights, you pretty much know what he's going to do. But we'll be ready for whatever. Maybe he changed some things up for the Japanese crowd."

On being ready for Jackson: "It's not 'Rampage' the guy I grew up watching. It's 'Rampage' the guy standing across the cage that I've got to go out there and beat."

He should beat Rampage but after that loss to Tito I am not so sure.

Should beat Rampage? What planet are you on? The only real chance Bader has is taking him down and keeping him there, which to be quite frank, simply isn't going to happen. Rampage will show his experience and if he doesn't smash the head off of Bader early in round one, he'll be working out a decision victory.

i think Bader's senses are going to end up somewhere in the third row in some japanese chicks lap. sorry pal all you got is a big right hand and weak takedowns.

Bader wins this. Ramoage is way past his prime and too slow to be effective. He's a lot like Tito Ortiz. When he was in his 20's and at his physical peak he would overpower everyone. Now is isn't strong enough or fast enough. The only older guys that can still compete are guys like Hendo and Coture that relied on skill vs. physical talents.

I think Bader's striking has improved and he is stronger. He wins a boring decision.
