Nick Diaz Tests Positive for Marijuana Metabolites
Posted by George H. Sirois on 02.09.2012
This will be his second infraction under the NSAC’s watch…
Nick Diaz tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs and drugs of abuse. The remaining tests for the other fighters on the UFC 143 card have so far been negative.
Diaz tested positive for marijuana metabolites after his five-round fight with former WEC titleholder Carlos Condit. He will have to appear before the Nevada State Athletic Commission to address the failed screen, and unless he successfully appeals, this offense will be Diaz's second infraction under the NSAC's watch.
How am I not surprised? He'd prob retire as the champ if he'd won. How could you not know you'd test positive? Fucking Diaz!

Weed? No shit!

But will Dana and the UFC treat this as a second offense or a third? Didn't he get yanked from a 2009 or 2010 Strikeforce card because he refused to take a pre-fight drug test? Hell, for that matter, will Dana and the UFC treat this as a fourth offense? He's had two failed drug tests, being yanked from a Strikeforce card and jerking everyone's chain and being a major league screw up during the run up to what was supposed to be Diaz VS GSP.
I'd have rather seen him get his ass kicked down the road by GSP than see him dropped and eventually fade away, but they may just decide that he's too big of a problem child to keep dealing with at this point.

If he can't show up for a press conference for the WORLD championship title fight, what makes anyone think he will show up for this. Diaz would be one of the best fighters around if he had a dose of character and humility.

I guess that explains his retirement speech.
Bye-bye, jackass.

Who doesn't know pot isn't a performance enhancer? It's 2012 if anything he might want some chips and have a nap.

As one of this site's card carrying Nick Diaz haters I would like to thank him for proving that once again that he is an irresponsible weed head that it too immature to deserve a high ranking. Good luck blaiming the world for your tangression once again.

And that friends is why Cesar Gracie said "no" to the rematch. He knew this was coming.

You idiot...

So I'm clear on the pot...but what is the performance enhancer?
The story says drugs of abuse (pot) and performance enhancing drugs...so was it steroids, diuretics...crystal meth?
Posted By: Guest#2414 (Guest) on February 09, 2012 at 09:29 PM
How exactly is marijuana performance-enhancing? If anything wouldn't it be performance-damaging?
Posted By: Guest#3587 (Guest) on February 09, 2012 at 09:41 PM
Well, this is very disappointing news. Nick should know by now how far out from a fight he needs to put down the pipe & how to flush his system out with natural foods. He deserves whatever punisment they give him although I've never understood how weed can be classed as a "Performance enhancer", makes my ass lazy to where I don't even wanna go train.

Bwahahahaha!
That is all.

If he has a medical marijuana card, maybe he'll be ok. He won three of the five rounds. He was robbed.
Posted By: Guest#1017 (Guest) on February 09, 2012 at 10:36 PM
and there goes his rematch!
Posted By: Guest#6316 (Guest) on February 09, 2012 at 10:37 PM
Not all weed makes you wanna play videogames and eat chips. Some strains will give you a boost and will dull pain. That's performance enhancing -although i seriously doubt he was smoking in the back waiting to fight. However if he was smoking before training -i's a different story.

can be considered a form of pain killers.

They're not saying he got busted for both. The test itself is given the catch all name and they test you for both performance-enhancing drugs and drugs of abuse. When someone tests positive, even if it's just for one or the other, they have tested positive for "performance-enhancing drugs and drugs of abuse." They then clarify which it was and what it was.

Medicinal marijuana isn't a prescription, it's a recommendation. They prescribe pills and other shit first, them offer marijuana as an alternative.

I find it comical that everyone can sit behind a computer and talk shit about Diaz. Smoking weed or not, he'd certainly fuck any of you up in the cage not to mention he makes more $ in one fight than every Diaz hater on here makes together annually. Quit hating and grow the fuck up.
Posted By: Royce (Guest) on February 10, 2012 at 12:57 AM
No way he gets a rematch with Condit now. Matter of fact shouldnt get a fight with UFC ever again. This is why he didnt want to be in UFC, testing is too strict. Most athletes dont even consider Chronic a drug since you grow it. Im not surprised but he shouldnt be either with the upcoming punishment he gets.
Posted By: TheR (Guest) on February 10, 2012 at 01:56 AM
I was going to beat Carlos Condit...But then I got high!!
Posted By: Nick Diaz (Guest) on February 10, 2012 at 02:33 AM
@ goonie: I hear this alot but I've smoked & trained for years & I ain't never seen or experienced it. Most of the guys I train with smoke, it's especially prevalent in the local Ju-Jitsu community & they say it's a myth.
Posted By: Oldskooler (Guest) on February 10, 2012 at 02:41 AM
Whether or not pot should be legal isn't a part of the equation. NSAC says you can't have it in your system, he knows that. Diaz may be an exciting fighter but just doesn't seem to have what it takes to be a professional.

lol. that is actually a very good point because joe rogan and eddie bravo have on MULTIPLE TIMES claimed that smoking weed and practicing have helped them as it not only does null ur body but also makes u move better and swifter.. learning new ideas etc.. i would say thats cheating!

I could 100% kick Diaz's ass, definitely make more money than him, and have never FAILED a drug test required by my job because I understand that "growing up" as you put it requires a certain level of responsibility.

I honestly would like to know how pot gives you an edge in combat!?!?
Posted By: Guest#6022 (Guest) on February 10, 2012 at 07:23 PM
When asked why he needed a bigger set of gloves, Diaz stated "you can put your weed in there".
