Not only is gayweather a racist he is also a COWARD. How can a MAN beat a woman to go to jail just so he can duck another fighter.

Wow, Dana actually is making somewhat coherent and valid points. And no F-bombs to boot!

not a mayweather fan but to think that Lin's rise has nothing to do with the fact that he's Asian is stupid. a white or black player would get love but not by any means make the cover of TIME magazine. FUCKING TIME PEOPLE!!!

I don't think it has as much to do with him being Asian as it has to do with him being the FIRST Asian to do it in the league... There's a difference

He's not the 1st. He's either the 4th or 5th, Yao Ming was really well known and obviously he's Asian.

The reason why he's such a story is he is a Harvard grad, he didn't get scholarships and wasn't drafted, was sleeping on his brother's couch, and then when he got an opportunity for the NY Knicks who were doing really badly he blew up and played very well for them.

It's your classic rags to riches, undiscovered player underdog story. If the Knicks win the championship this year I guarantee there will be a Disney movie by next summer.

The Asian part only factors in if that's why the guy's talent wasn't discovered, he's been cut twice and the Knicks had sent him down to the D League. I don't really think that was the reason he wasn't given a chance before though.

There are certainly a lot of Asian people that are proud of him, there have been so few Asian players and basketball is very popular in Asia now too. But that's the same if a US born player went to Europe and started playing soccer in the Premier League, people in the US would be excited because usually that doesn't happen and now it's good to see someone you share similarities with doing well.

So I guess Landon Donovan and Brad Friedel have been all over the news since they made the jump right? And it's football, not soccer - nobody here in 'Europe' uses that word.

Wow, he couldnt name more than two black basketball players who were praised.

Way to keep up to date on basketball.

The white guy is right. It's kind of ironic but I know what he means-and I didn't even watch the video. And I happen to be white too. Racism is color blind.

Dana White is a hypocrite.

The same Dana White who enriched GSP, Matt Hughes, Chuck Liddell but underpaid Tito Ortiz who brought more money than them in PPV. Any difference between them and Tito ? Go figure. He would not even help Tito pay for a 40k surgery while he made millions off him ?

The same Dana that been brushing off Silva vs GSP for years now cuz he knows GSP will lose. So, UFC fans don't wanna see that fight huh?

The same Dana that let Chael Sonnen, a roided fool fight Silva with a rib injury ? Same Dana that's allowing Chael to crawl back like nothing happened and want to have Chael vs Silva soon while dude was never suspended for the steroid use? Now he wanna build a sport?

Same Dana that's paying fighters like 20-100k while the PPV card made at least 70 mil

The hypocrisy here is unmatched...

All the hype is/was because they're black:
1. Tiger Woods
2. Venus and Serena Williams
3. Jackie Robinson
4. Gale Sayers
5. Arthur Ashe

JLin hype has nothing to do with him being Asian, Yao Ming was already the first Asian drafted #1 in the NBA draft. Has nothing to do with him being undrafted because theres a guy named BWallace that went undrafted, traded twice then became defensive player of the year, won the rebounding title and won an NBA title. It's not because of the school he went to since there was a time NBA players didnt even go to college like Kobe and Lebron. Even had a guy BJennings that refused to go to college, went to Europe for a year then was drafted by the NBA. All these guys had their time in the sun because of their story. The reason JLin is the talk of the sports world is because its happening in New York. Because he's playing for the NYKnicks who were about to absolutely have a blown season until Linsanity.

Remember, the "N" in ESPN stands for NewYork.

Lin is not from the Philippines, Dana, you knucklehead.

His father's family is from Taiwan. His mother is from Mainland, China.

He doesn't even LOOK Filipino! Jesus wept!

Dana White was talking about Pacquiao in reference to the Philippines, not Lin. He was also referencing a quote that Mayweather said that "Pacquiao should go make some sushi somewhere."

Hi.

Wallace: Played defense, wasn't flashy, played in defensive-minded Detroit, didn't win games from up front, no offensive game, took him a few years to get recognition for his efforts. Wasn't an impact player for his first few starts like Lin was.

Jennings: Top HS Recruit, as in no. 1 US recruit, would have jumped straight to the NBA if he could have, but wanted to make money so he went to Europe. Got drafted to the Bucks, where he couldn't raise the team past mediocre on his own talents.

Lin: No HS recruiting, played in the Ivy league, dropped from two NBA teams after being undrafted, came out of nowhere to lead the Knicks to a 9-2 record including wins against Lakers and defending champs Mavs.

You need to pick better examples of why Lin shouldn't be seen as special.
