Especially after being pulled from UFC on FOX 4...
In an interview with MMA Junkie, Travis Browne (13-0-1 MMA, 4-0-1 UFC) talked about his fight at UFC on FX 5, as well as being pulled from UFC on FOX 4 due to Ben Rothwell's injury. He will face Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva (16-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC). Here are highlights:
On being pulled from the FOX event: "That day when I found out I was actually pulled off the card, I was depressed. As an athlete, this is what you put all of your heart and soul into every day in training. To have a fight pull out so last-minute and have nobody step up and take that fight, it was really disappointing, and I was really emotional. I wasn't sitting there crying like a baby, but I didn't know what to do with myself. I was sitting on the couch. There was no noise. I was sitting there by myself and looking around like, 'What do I do now?' I'm lost."
On main eventing against Bigfoot: "It's an honor and a blessing to get that call. For Joe Silva and Dana White to put the main event in my hands, I take that seriously. I feel blessed and honored to be a part of it and to be a part of it. I accept that challenge, and I'll be ready for it."
On becoming a contender in the heavyweight division: "I believe my position in the division depends on how the fight goes. Obviously if I lose, then I don't deserve to be in the title discussion. If I win, it's going to depend on how I win. I think if I have a lackluster decision, then I won't be ready and I won't be mentioned. But if I go out there and I dominate and I put on the type of performance I know I can, I believe I'll be right in there with the top fighters in the heavyweight division."
