[non-news] Write For 411 MMA!
Posted by Larry Csonka on 12.03.2012
Love MMA? Love 411? Write for us!
411 is looking for new writers for our MMA section! If you love MMA and love to write, we want you on our team. Your writing needs to be spelling and grammar checked, be easy to read, and be well organized. You may also get the chance to interview MMA stars or represent 411 at live MMA events! It takes time (often a lot of time) and work (often a lot of work). We take this very seriously and so should you. Don't apply unless you are serious and plan to stick around.
We also require images in columns, video if possible (embedding videos from YouTube or similar places would be fine), formatting to keep the column organized, (bold, italics, underlines, larger font for headers/titles/subtitles, colored font, and so on), avoiding "walls of text" by breaking up long columns with section headers, and, if possible, smaller sections to go with a main op-ed piece.
DO NOT APPLY UNLESS YOU ARE READY TO TAKE ON A WEEKLY COMMITTEMENT TO COMPLETING YOUR COLUMN/REPORT/ARTICLE! PLEASE DO NOT WASTE OUR TIME!
Please include a sample of the work you would be offering to 411mania.
We're looking for…
MMA News Columnist: We are looking for someone to write a weekly MMA News Column. The column should cover all of the important news in MMA, new fights, new shows announced and more. Columns would have to be spelling and grammar checked. Check out a good example of an MMA News Column here.
MMA TV Reporter: We are looking for someone to help recap the live MMA events that run on TV. From the UFC, Strikeforce, DREAM and anything else major going on in the world of MMA, we want it reported on! You will need to be able to do LIVE recaps of the shows, where you recap the show, live as it happens, and constantly update the 411 main page. (You will be one of several who help recap events). For an example of the basic 411 MMA TV report, check out the check out the Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale report.
Video/DVD Reviewers - This would be a recap of an older MMA show/video/DVD. You're free to have your reviews be more personality driven or more straight-forward. Please include formatting (matches in bold, images when possible, and so on). An example of a good MMA video/DVD review is Tremendous Tirades.
MMA Weekly Fighter Profile Writer: We are looking for someone to write a weekly fighter profile. Each week, the profile would focus on a new fighter, his background, his skills, his past career, how his future looks, etc. Columns would have to be spelling and grammar checked. Check out one of our fighter profiles here.
Writing for 411 is a fun experience! If you want to be part of the team, please send a sample of your wrestling writing here.
