UFC 153 has it's new main event. UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva (32-4, MMA; 15-0, UFC) will now face Stephan Bonnar (14-7, MMA; 8-6, UFC) in the new main event for UFC 153 in October.
Some other adjustments have also been made to the card. Glover Teixeira (18-2, MMA; 1-0, UFC), who was originally schedule to face Quinton "Rampage" Jackson before Jackson had to withdraw from the card due to injury, will now face Fabio Maldonado (18-5, MMA; 1-2, UFC) in the new co-main event.
In addition Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (33-7, MMA; 4-3, UFC) will be returning to face fellow heavyweight Dave Herman (21-4, MMA; 1-2, UFC).
The original main event for the card between UFC featherweight title holder Jose Aldo in a super fight against Frankie Edgar had to be cancelled as Aldo had to withdraw from the card due to injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident leading up to the fight.
