Nogueira Says He'd Only Fight For the UFC Title if Junior Dos Santos is No Longer Champion
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 11.08.2012

MMAjunkie reports that Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira has stated he has no plans of fighting for the UFC heavyweight title unless friend and training partner Junior dos Santos is no longer the UFC heavyweight champion.

Nogueira stated in a media conference on call Thursday for The Ultimate Fighter Brazil: Nogueira vs. Werdum that "If there's any chance he doesn't have the title any more, for sure, I would love to fight for the belt."

Nogueira also stated on the Werdum fight, "This fight is going to be very important for me, because if I win or lose, it's one step forward or one step back. So I want to be fighting the best guys in the division. I want to be [within] the top guys in the division."

Nogueira will next face Fabricio Werdum and the two will coach on the new season of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil.
