Dominick Cruz Completes Second Pace Car Drive for AdvoCare 500
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 11.11.2012

MMAjunkie reports that UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz did his second drive for the AdvoCare 500, a part of the Sprint Cup series for Nascar. Cruz is a pace car driver for the series.

It was recently announced that Cruz would be sponsored by the Phoenix International Raceway for his next fight, scheduled tentatively for some time early in 2013. Cruz will be wearing the racetrack's logo on his walkout shirt and shorts.

On getting to drive a pace car, Cruz stated, "To feel even a sliver of the adrenaline that these drivers experience was so awesome, and I can't wait to do it again."

Cruz will be the first ever MMA fighter to get a sponsorship from the Phoenix International Raceway. According to PIR President Bryan Sperberg, "We jumped at the chance to be able to support Dom. We're able to showcase what we're doing to the UFC's audience. It's kind of a groundbreaking opportunity because it's never been done."

Cruz will likely meet interim bantamweight champion Renan Barao when he's ready to return to the cage next year.
