Vinicius Queiroz's manager is protesting the actions of the referee in his Bellator 80 loss to Alexander Volkov on Friday. Queiroz's manager sent an email protesting the officiating, which MMAjunkie received today.
Josef Borges writes, "[Referee James] Warring could have contributed to [and] altered the result of the fight after he ordered the fighters to rise up with [after] only 15 seconds [on the ground] … in a moment that was favorable for Vincius...MMA means also fighting on the ground. Getting a takedown and dominating the ground also adds points to the fight."
The email does not say that he will appeal the result, simply noting, "I would like you to register my protest and I hope that Mr. James Warring will update [his] knowledge of the rules of MMA."
Queiroz lost at 4:59 in round two after a flurry of punches from Volkov.
