Lorenz Larkin vs. Ronaldo Souza, Tim Kennedy vs. Trevor Smith Added to Strikeforce: Champions Card
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 11.29.2012

Strikeforce confirmed today two new fights which were added to the Strikeforce: Champions card for January.

Lorenz Larkin (13-0, MMA; 4-0, Strikeforce) will now face former Strikeforce middleweight champion Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza (16-3, MMA; 6-1, Strikeforce). Also in another middleweight bout, former Strikeforce middleweight title contender Tim Kennedy (14-4, MMA; 5-2, Strikeforce) will face Trevor Smith (10-2, MMA; 2-1, Strikeforce). Larkin was originally scheduled to face Luke Rockhold in a middleweight title bout first on the November 3 event, but it was canceled due to Rockhold's wrist injury along with the fight card itself. Larkin was also set to face Rockhold for the title on this card but Rockhold's injury would not be healed in time for him to make the bout.

Strikeforce: Champions is set for January 12 at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City. The main card will be broadcast on Showtime with the prelims being shown on Showtime Extreme.
