Nate Diaz Says Gilbert Melendez is Considering a Drop to Featherweight if He Wins the Title

MMAjunkie has a report up that depending on the outcome of the lightweight title fight between Nate Diaz and Ben Henderson at UFC on Fox 5, Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez is reportedly considering a move down to featherweight. That would be if Diaz won the title this Saturday.

Diaz stated, "S*** don't go too well for this fight, and Gilbert Melendez is going to be champion for sure. No doubt in my mind." But if the title changes hands, Diaz revealed that Melendez is considering a drop down to featherweight when he comes into the UFC.

Melendez is currently out with a shoulder injury. Melendez's trainer and coach, Cesar Gracie, that Melendez is currently in negotiations with the UFC.
