Cyborg Says She Could Fight Ronda Rousey at 135 lbs
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 12.05.2012

MMAjunkie spoke with Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos regarding rumors that she'd be facing Ronda Rousey. Recently there was an announcement on UFC's Brazilian website that Rousey would be fighting Cyborg at UFC 157. But according to Cyborg that announcement is the "wrong information."

The fight apparently is being negotiated, but interestingly enough Cyborg stated she could fight at 135 pounds. This is despite numerous reports from Cyborg that her doctor forbid her from making that particular weight cut and that it was dangerous. Cyborg stated, "In one month, I can't do it, but if I have time, I could do it," regarding a move down to 135 pounds. If Cyborg were to fight at UFC 157 on February 23 in Anaheim she could fight at that time on 145 pounds, but she needs additional time to move down to the 135-pound limit to fight Rousey for her title.

The initial posting of the Rousey/Cyborg match-up was reportedly made in error. Cyborg is still serving a one-year suspension after she failed a drug test following her fight with Hiroko Yamanaka. Her suspension is slated to end on December 17.
