UPDATE: Dana White Says Tito Ortiz Told Cyborg Santos Not to Fight Ronda Rousey
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 12.06.2012

UPDATE: TMZ reports that a rep for Cris "Cyborg" Santos says that Ronda Rousey is too scared to face Cyborg which is why the fight is not happening between the two in February.

The rep stated: "This is a fight all the fans want and we want to give to them. We have offered to fight Ronda at a catch weight of 140lbs. She has turned that offer down and will not budge to make this fight happen. Cyborg wants Rousey but can not and will not drop to 135 [Rousey's fighting weight]. We understand Ronda is worried about losing because of her new found fame. We are not worried about fame; we are worried about Cris' health."

The rep says several doctors have said it would be unsafe for Cris to drop to 135 lbs. Though Cyborg recently changed her tune and said she could make that weight if she had more time.

ORIGINAL: MMAjunkie reports that the UFC had attempted to put together a fight between Ronda Rousey and Cris "Cyborg" Santos, but Cyborg's manager, former UFC champion and Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz, reportedly advised her against it.

In a media scrum in Seattle today, White said the Cyborg/Rousey fight, "That's the fight that should be happening. Tito Ortiz is her manager, and he advised against it."

Ortiz sent MMAjunkie a test message and denied the claim from White. Ortiz wrote: "That was never said! 'Cyborg' will fight her anytime, anywhere at 145. Cris said she would kill herself trying to make 135. I won't allow it, (and) neither should the UFC or Dana. Cris wants the fight, fans want the fight, and so does the UFC. If Ronda is such a great fighter, why doesn't she fight at the weight she started at? This is no different than (Anderson) Silva cutting to 170 to fight GSP. It's not healthy, period."

Cyborg did state recently though that she now could fight at 135 but just not at UFC 157. Regarding Cyborg's recent reversal on being willing to move down to that weight, Rousey stated the following at the UFC on Fox 5 pre-fight press conference: "I wasn't the least bit surprised. I know she can make 135, and so does she. It just takes her a little while to realize that this is the only option she has. It took her a little bit longer because I don't think she's that bright. Once she does sit down and think about it, we'll have the only fight that really makes sense."
