Cody McKenzie Out At UFC 155 Due To Injury
Posted by Joseph Lee on 12.18.2012

MMA Junkie reports that Cody McKenzie (13-3 MMA, 2-3 UFC) suffered a training injury and will be unable to face Leonard Garcia at UFC 155.

The event takes place on December 29 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main event will be a rematch between heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos and former champion Cain Velasquez on the main card.

UFC officials have not made a formal announcement about McKenzie's withdrawal and are currently looking for a replacement featherweight opponent even on short notice.

Garcia, who competes for Team Jackson-Winkeljohn is on a losing streak after losing three in a row. He has competed for Zuffa since 2007. Four of his last seven fights have won "Fight of the Night" and his 2010 fight with Chan Sung Jung in WEC was considered that year's best fight. He only has one win in his past five fights.

McKenzie was looking to fight for his second time at 145 pounds after three fights at lightweight. His first featherweight fight was a knockout loss to Chad Mendes in just 31 seconds. It's unknown when he will return.
