Aleksander Emelianenko Retiring From MMA
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 12.19.2012

Aleksander Emelianenko (21-6, MMA), a former Pride Fighting Championship veteran, announced on his Facebook page that he is retiring from MMA.

The younger brother of former Pride FC heavyweight championship wrote: "I want to thank you for your support, for having supported me in spite of all that they say about me. Unfortunately, I will not be able to perform in the ring because of health problems caused by old injuries."

Emelianenko went 6-2 during his run in Pride with notable wins over James Thompson and Sergei Kharitonov. He last fought in November when he lost to Jeff Monson by submission at M-1 Challenge 35.
