Ross Pearson Says His DUI Charge Was Dropped Before HIs UFC on FX 6 Camp
Posted by Joseph Lee on 12.24.2012

MMA Junkie reports that Ross Pearson's DUI charge was dropped before his training camp for a fight with George Sotiropoulos.

Pearson said that UFC President Dana White "handled" the situation after he called him. Pearson has denied drinking on the night of his arrest on April 29 after Las Vegas police pulled him over for erratic driving. They say he failed a sobriety test and was booked on suspicion of DUI. At the time, he was an assistant coach on The Ultimate Fighter 15.

He said: "I didn't get a breathalyzer. here was no record of me being drunk, when I wasn't drunk. I'd been at a nightclub, out celebrating with the team. But I wasn't drinking. I was getting ready for a fight."

Pearson (14-6 MMA, 6-3 UFC) still ended up fighting Cub Swanson in June at UFC on FX 4, where he lost by second-round TKO. He then became a coach on The Ultimate Fighter: Smashes. He knocked out the other coach, Sotiropoulous (14-5 MMA, 7-3 UFC) at lightweight in the finale at UFC on FX 6.

White said at the time: "I talked to him on the phone the day that he got out, and we're going to help him through it. He's got 50 guys out there that he's training with that he could have called. He's got money; he could have taken a taxi. It's just one of those bad choices you make at that moment."

The Clark County District Attorney's office, which handles Las Vegas criminal cases, were unable to confirm the news. Pearson believes the charge was dropped on September 8. He faced up to six months in jail and $1,000 in fines if he was convicted.
