Liz Carmouche Has Been Fighting Out Of Armbars At Her UFC 157 Training Camp
Posted by Joseph Lee on 12.29.2012

In an interview with MMA Junkie, Liz Carmouche (7-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) says she has been training hard to her fight with Ronda Rousey (6-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) at UFC 157 for the UFC women's bantamweight championship. The event takes place on February 23 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Main card fights will air on PPV after preliminary fights on FX and Facebook.

Specifically, Carmouche has been learning to defend against surprise armbars.

On what she means by "surprise armbars": "Whether I'm sitting there eating at the gym or just walking around, people randomly decide to armbar me. In the middle of instruction, when we have our jiu-jitsu coach talking and trying to walk us through moves, and somebody just decides to randomly jump on my back to try an armbar."

On being the underdog against Rousey: "I'm brought in to be the underdog and the loser, and I love it. It's something that I look forward to. The only thing you can do is step up and be that much greater, and it gives me motivation and energy to work that much harder."

On working on a plan to defeat Rousey: "This is something we've been doing since she took the title."
