Erick Silva Hopes to be Ready to Fight Again by March

MMAjunkie spoke with UFC welterweight fighter Erick Silva via an interpreter who said Silva would like to return to fight hopefully by March if all goes well. Silva was scheduled to fight Jay Hieron at UFC 156 in February, but was forced to withdraw due to an infection in his leg and a subsequent injury to his elbow. Here are the highlights:
On his hopes to fight again by March: "Joe told me that I could come back at an event in March."
Regarding how his injuries affected him in training: "I am in great pain when training. Doctors instructedme to train lighter, and as there are only four weeks to the fight on Feb. 2, I knew I would not be 100 percent until the day of the fight. It was a high-level fight, and I can not enter it while training at only 50 percent."
His thoughts on not making it to UFC 156: "I feel sad for not fighting this event."
