Two Fights Added To UFC on FUEL TV 8
Posted by Joseph Lee on 01.05.2013

MMA Junkie reports that the UFC has added two more fights to the card of UFC on FUEL TV 8 in Japan. This will include the debut of a fighter from Strikeforce, Mizuto Hirota (14-5-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC).

Hirota will drop to featherweight from lightweight to face Rani Yahya (17-7 MMA, 2-1 UFC). There will also be a fight between welterweights Marcelo Guimaraes (8-0-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) and Hyun Gyu Lim (10-3-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC). The event takes place on March 3 (and airs live in the US on March 2 because of the time difference) at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. The main card airs on FUEL TV after preliminary fights on Facebook. Hirota vs Yahya will probably be on the main card while Guimares vs. Lim will be on the preliminary card.

Hirota is a former World Victory Road/Sengoku and DEEP lightweight champion. He had his Strikeforce debut earlier this year and lost to Pat Healy by decision in July. Before that, he had a 4-1 run, only losing to Shinya Aoki by submission. Yahya is a former WEC fighter who has wins over Mike Brown, Eddie Wineland and Yoshiro Maeda. He most recently defeated Josh Grispi in August, breaking a 1-3 losing streak in the WEC and UFC.

Meanwhile, Guimaraes is still undefeated after his UFC debut in July when he beat Dan Stittgen by split decision. It was his first fight outside of Brazil. He was set to fight Lim at UFC on FUEL TV 6 in November, but he was injured and David Mitchell replaced him. Then Lim wasn't cleared to compete right before the weigh-ins. Lim is making his UFC debut after a five-fight win streak (with all five being first round stoppages) on the regional scene, mostly with PXC. Nine of his ten wins have been by stoppage, with seven by KO.

The latest UFC on FUEL TV 8 card now includes:

Wanderlei Silva vs. Brian Stann
Mark Hunt vs. Stefan Struve
Takanori Gomi vs. Diego Sanchez
Siyar Bahadurzada vs. Dong Hyun Kim
Mizuto Hirota vs. Rani Yahya
Riki Fukuda vs. Brad Tavares
Bryan Caraway vs. Takeya Mizugaki
Cristiano Marcello vs. Kazuki Tokudome
Alex Caceres vs. Kyung Ho Kang
Marcelo Guimaraes vs. Hyun Gyu Lim
