Staring with UFC on FX 7...
UFC Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, Marc Ratner, today stated that all fighters who compete on international events for the UFC and are tested for performance enhancing drugs will not be paid until their drug test results are available. Ratner also confirmed that UFC won't pay out additional fight night bonuses until drug test results are available.
Usually the UFC offers Knockout of the Night, Submission of the Night, and Fight of the Night Bonuses after events conclude. The changes will be instituted this weekend starting with UFC on FX 7 at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil. In areas that do not have a governing athletic commission, the UFC self-regulates under guidance from Ratner, a former executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission. However for this event, Ratner stated a new Brazilian commission appointed by the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) will oversee UFC on FX 7.
UFC will hire an independent facility to perform the drug testing for this event as they have done with previous international events.
