Josh Samman Talks About His Long Road to Get to The Ultimate Fighter 17 Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 01.29.2013
Nearly losing his leg and more...
Josh Samman recently spoke with MMAjunkie about trying out for previous seasons of The Ultimate Fighter and more. Check out the highlights:
On getting injured during tryouts for TUF 10: "(UFC matchmaker) Joe Silva was like, 'You need to go to the hospital; you might have a blood clot.' I had just turned 21. I was like, 'F--- that.' I had an 8 o'clock flight back to Florida from Seattle."
On being told that he might lose his leg: "This is the last thing this asshole tells me before I'm going to sleep. Now count back from 100."
On auditioning for TUF 11: "I went up to Dana (White), and I said, 'Hey, you forgot my name.' He was like, 'Well, you're not on the list'...I was just flabbergasted. I tried to say something about it, but I didn't do enough to make a point about what I'd been through."
On the call for TUF 17: "Even then, I was like, 'Whatever.' One or two more fights, and I'll be in the UFC anyway."
On his family and friends talking him into taking the shot: "I'm happy that I had the conversation that I did with the people that had been with me from the beginning, and remembered how much it had meant to me, even though I had forgotten."
