Nate Diaz vs Josh Thomson Added To UFC on FOX 7
Posted by Joseph Lee on 01.29.2013

MMA Junkie reports that Josh Thomson (19-5 MMA, 2-1 UFC) will make his return to the UFC after seven years for a fight with Nate Diaz (16-8 MMA, 7-6 UFC) at UFC on FOX 7. The event takes place on April 20 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. It's unknown if the fight will be on the FOX main ard or the preliminary card on FX and Facebook.

Thomson won his first lightweight title with Strikeforce in the same venue before losing it to Gilbert Melendez. In May, he lost a rematch, who was booed when it was announced that he won via split decision. Thomson, nicknamed "The Punk", ended his run with Strikeforce with a record of 10-4. He went 2-1 in his first UFC run, which ended in 2004 after being knocked out by Yves Edwards.

Diaz's most recent fight was Benson Henderson at UFC on FOX 5 for the lightweight title. He lost by unanimous decision, ending a three fight win streak after a run at welterweight. Diaz' teammate, Melendez, will challenge Henderson at UFC on FOX 7 in the main event.
