Olympic Gold Medalist Henry Cejudo Set to Make MMA Debut This Spring
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 01.31.2013

Olympic gold medalist in 121 pounds in wrestling, Henry Cejudo, will be making his MMA debut at bantamweight (135 pounds) this spring according to his rep William McFarlane.

McFarlane stated, "Cutting weight to 121 pounds is very difficult. He was a natural 130-pounder when he competed in 2008. He's a natural 140-pounder now and still walking around with 5 percent body fat."

Cejudo is 25 years old and will likely fight in March or early April. He won the gold in wrestling at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 at 55 kilograms in the freestyle division. He had been rumored to be considering to MMA before, but he ultimately decided to try for another gold medal in London last year.

McFarlane also said Cejudo had received many offers from multiple MMA promotions including the UFC. McFarlane says, "We're trying to get through contract issues."

Cejudo is also currently in the process of looking for a full-time MMA coach.
