Tyron Woodley Not Upset That He Lost Out On Knockout Of The Night To Antonio Silva
Posted by Joseph Lee on 02.05.2013

MMA Junkie says that Tyron Woodley (11-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) barely missed out on a "Knockout of the Night" bonus when Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva knocked out Alistair Overeem at UFC 156 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Woodley knocked out Jay Hieron (23-7 MMA, 0-3 UFC) on the preliminary card at 36 seconds of the first round.

Dana White said: "'Bigfoot' f----d him."

His last fight was a loss to Nate Marquardt for the Strikeforce title. He was knocked out in the fourth round. He then won three decision victories to finish up his run with the now-defunct promotion.

Woodley said: "A lot of people don't realize, in the beginning of my career, I finished everybody. So for me, it's a new leaf turned over. It's a new organization, and I want to send a message to all the welterweights that I'm here."

If he wants to get to the top of the welterweight division, he will need to get past names like Demian Maia and Jon Fitch. He added: "It just felt really good to make a statement."
