Several Fights Added To Invicta FC 5
Posted by Joseph Lee on 02.09.2013

MMA Junkie reports that several fights have been added to the card of Invicta FC 5. These include Barb Honchak (7-2) vs Vanessa Porto (15-5) for the promotion's 125-pound title; Sarah Kaufman (15-2) vs Leslie Smith (5-2-1); Amanda Nunes (7-3) vs Kaitlin Young (7-7); and Bec Hyatt (4-2) vs Jasminka Cive (5-0). The event takes place on April 5, most likely in Kansas City, Missouri. It will be headlined by a 105-pound title fight between Jessica Penne and Michelle Waterson.

Kaufman's last fight was a loss in Strikeforce last August to women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, who ended up in UFC. Before that, she lost her Strikeforce belt to Marloes Coenen in October 2010. Smith, meanwhile, is 2-0-1 in Invicta. She drew with Young at Invicta FC 1 and then beat Young at Invicta FC 3 with a second-round TKO. At Invicta FC 4, she beat Raquel Pennington by decision.

Nunes has lost two of her past three fights. She lost by decision to D'Alelio at Invicta FC 4, lost to Alexis Davis in Strikeforce by TKO and then beat Raquel Pa'aluhi at Invicta FC 2. Young lost back to back fights after her draw with Smith, including the rematch. She also lost by submission in the second round to Liz Carmouche. She has defeated Miesha Tate and Julie Kedzie.

Hyatt made her debut in Invicta last month and lost a five-round 125-pound title fight to Carla Esparza by unanimous decision. This ended a four fight win-streak that included three stoppages. Cive is undefeated after competing in Austria. She won all five fights by stoppage, including four knockouts.

Honchak has been winning since 2011. She won by unanimous decision over Felice Herrig, then had six straight wins, including back-to-back for Invicta. She's also defeated Roxanne Madafferi and Aisling Daley. Porto has won five of her past six fights. The only loss was to Sarah D'Alelio at Invicta FC 2. She then won in October at Invicta FC 3 by unanimous decision over Tara LaRosa.

Here's the card so far:

Jessica Penne vs. Michelle Waterson - for 105-pound title
Barb Honchak vs. Vanessa Porto - for 125-pound title
Sarah Kaufman vs. Leslie Smith
Zoila Frausto Gurgel vs. Jennifer Maia
Amanda Nunes vs. Kaitlin Young
Julia Budd vs. Ediane Gomes
